I think this is primarily a repellant. But, if it is oil based, it will suffocate any insect you spray it on. Spray it after sunset when the pollinators have gone to bed, trying not to get any in waterways or ponds. If it suffocates mosquito larva it could possibly suffocate other things living in the water like young dragonflies. (I love those guys, and they eat tons of mosquito larva) I would not get it into a koi pond, but then if you have koi you don't have any mosquitoes in your pond, unless your fish are incredibly overfed ; )
I have found it works on Mosquitoes, Fleas, Ticks and Fire Ants. It may do more but that's what I have personally seen it work super well on.
I have a friend who is using it in a Mosquito Sentry system, he said he can't get any Mosquito Sentry products any more for some reason....
