ok so i was finally able to install and here is the run down.
- Easy install about an hour (better than an outdoor swinging security bar)
-install for left or right swing (although to place the hinge on the left took a bit of figuring out)
- all hardware included except an S2, S3 and S1 screw bit. Need the S1 for the quick release bar sold separately
-Hinge is weld is VERY poor. it almost broke off. I had to drill through the hinge and secure another screw to keep it form breaking off when the bars are opened. ALSO found a better solution and that is to keep the Extension side by the hinges fully retracted to the weight will be on the hinges. that did seem to help a lot on keeping the hinges from almost breaking off. I SUGGEST to only extend the latch side if possible to cover the window opening and once that side is fully extended and the bar still does not cover the window then and only then extend the hinge side or better yet measure and secure a 2X4 to the window seal than install the bars. all for the reason given above about the weak weld job on the hinges.
-looks nice and goes with the house and not ugly like the old black bars you put on the outside of a house.
-Easy to swing open and close
-with the quick release bar (easily installed also) it adds a level of security and an ability to easily open and secure window bars. you could use a lock if used in places not requiring egress or where prohibited by law BUT i recommend the Quick release bar instead for safety and convenience. After all even if you don't expect to use the window as an egress you just never know!
-Fits window size as described.
-nice smooth finish
