Unlike a flat grate that lies flush with the surface, the 4 in. Atrium Grate has a raised dome design that blocks leaves, mulch, and other debris near the base, while continuously allowing water to flow through the top. The 4 in. atrium dome drain grate has an open surface area of 21.5 sq. in. and a flow rate of 66 GPM. Connect to 3 in. and 4 in. sewer and drainpipe and fittings, 3 in. and 4 in. single-wall corrugated pipe, and 3 in. and 4 in. triple-wall pipe for a soil-tight fit. Built to stand up to the elements, the drain grate (or drain cover) is made of polyethylene, a type of plastic, using a combination of virgin and recycled content treated with UV inhibitors to prevent fading and cracking from the sun. What’s the inner diameter of this? I have a stormwater pipe with an actual 4 inch outer diameter and want to know if this will fit over it. The 3 and 4 inch combo version does not fit inside the pipe.
Hi Handywoman - the atrium grate is a 4" Spigot Sewer & Drainpipe connection, and the 3" is a Hub Sewer & Drainpipe connection. You are probably using Sch40 PVC pipe, which will not work, it will mirror.
Does the product use fasteners to secure it in place?
No, this product sits in the pipe or sewer.

No. Just tap with a mallet.
No. I simply insert it into the 4 inch plastic pipe and it stays there. This is important for sometimes things, like leaves, somehow arrive and I need to clean out this grate. I just pull it out, bang it clean and pop it back into the pipe.
