Product Details

Take water away from structures, erosion-prone landscapes, and poor drainage areas to discharge from a Pop-Up Drainage Emitter downstream. The Pop-Up Emitter with Elbow connects to 3 in. sewer and drain pipe and 3 in. triple-wall pipe. As water pressure builds, the cap "pops up" as high as 1 in., disperses water at up to 56 GPM, and closes once the flow diminishes. Cap stays closed when not in use to prevent debris and rodents from entering and potentially clogging the drainage system. The flat profile blends discreetly into the surrounding landscape. Rounded contours on interior edges reduce the potential for clogging and internal ribs provide durability and strength. Flange design prevents turf overgrowth. Weep hole at bottom of elbow drains out water left in pipes to prevent stagnation or freezing in cold weather. Cap and cover made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE); elbow made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Pop-Up Drainage Emitters are part of a complete drainage system used for stormwater management. They work with pipes, catch basin drains, channel drains, trench drains, and drain grates that filter, capture, and convey excess water to drain pipes; the pipes carry the water downstream to discharge with a Pop-Up Emitter, or to percolate into the ground with a dry well or infiltration trench. NDS offers free tools such as the Home Drainage Center, Calculators, and NDS Stormwater Drainage mobile app to help make your project a success.
  • Provides a downstream point of release for water collected upstream
  • Install the Pop-Up Drainage Emitter at the lowest point in the drainage system; place in areas away from buildings, landscapes, and poor drainage areas
  • Elbow connects to 3 in. sewer and drain pipe and 3 in. triple-wall pipe, connects to other pipe types using appropriate adapters
  • Releases collected water up to 56 GPM
  • Supports pedestrian traffic including lawn tractors, when properly installed
  • Cap on cover pops up as high as 1 in. once water pressure builds and closes as flow diminishes; when not in use, cap stays closed to keep debris and rodents out of drain
  • Flange design prevents grass from growing over the cover
  • Small weep hole in elbow drains out any water in the pipe to prevent stagnation or freezing in cold weather
  • Flat profile design reduces trip hazard posed by open drain; closed position keeps emitter flush to the ground and safe from lawn mower blades. Rounded contours on interior edges reduce the potential for clogging and internal ribs provide durability and strength
  • Works with a complete drainage system to release collected stormwater runoff and standing water to a discharge point before it causes costly property damage
  • Position Pop-Up Emitter cover at ground level; connect elbow to 3 in. sewer and drain pipe or 3 in. triple-wall pipe underground
  • Comes with one Pop-Up Drainage Emitter and attached elbow
  • Cap and cover made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) using a combination of virgin and recycled content treated with UV inhibitors to prevent fading and cracking. Elbow made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) using a combination of virgin and recycled content treated with UV inhibitors to prevent fading and cracking
  • Use adapter (1241) to connect elbow to 3 in. & 4 in. single-wall corrugated pipes or 4 in. Sch. 40 pipe; use multiple Pop-Up Drainage Emitters for larger drainage problems
  • Capture and convey water upstream with a Catch Basin Drain, Low-Profile Adapter, Channel Drain, or Trench Drain connected to drain pipes. Use with a Flo-Well Dry Well System and EZ Drain Gravel-Free French Drain System to detain excess water and slowly release it into the ground
  • Onsite stormwater management protects the watershed downstream, and limits excess runoff which can lead to negative impacts such as erosion, pollution, and flooding
  • NDS, founded in 1972, is the preferred choice of professionals and the leader in stormwater management with proven products, tools, and support to help you get the job done right

Product is great...only questioned which side (bottom or side) the intentional slit in the black pipe should face. Both made sense in my head for a justification for having it but not sure what the engineers intent was. I bought 4 and each was different but the green piece separates intentionally too so assembly wasn't consistent either. Maybe it doesn't matter but I post this to hopefully be helpful.

      Design Issues
I was surprised to find in such an old and simple concept, this product has design issues. It does not function well as a true 'Pop-Up' valve. 1. Designed drain hole in elbow to prevent ice damage is too large. Unless you have extreme volume of rain, it will drain at the bottom in elbow and not through the 'pop-up' top. 2. The cap is not a proper fit or seal to elbow. Water will spill out at the base of the cap instead of exiting through the 'pop-up' feature of the valve.
