Product Overview

Drain excess water flooding hardscapes to prevent costly property damage with the 5 in. Pro Series Channel Drain, Deep Profile, the most durable modular drain system in its class. Captures moderate flows from driveways, patios, courtyards, walkways, & sports facilities, & conveys to drain pipe. Kit includes a 4-3/4 in. deep polypropylene channel, polyethylene grates, end cap/outlet, & end cap. Channels snap together with interlocking joints. Cut to 4 in. short increments using saw guides. End outlet, integrated bottom outlet, & side knockouts provide 8 outlet options per channel section. Channel drains, also called trench drains, are long, narrow drains used for surface drainage of hardscapes. Channel drains collect and convey water to drain pipes, which carry the water downstream to discharge with a pop-up emitter, or to percolate into the ground with a dry well or infiltration trench. NDS channel and trench drains are designed for durability, drainage, and performance, and are a proven alternative to traditional concrete drains. Find the best channel drain or trench drain system for your needs with the NDS Channel Drain Selector tool at ndspro.com/choose-the-right-channel-drain.html. Founded in 1972, NDS is the leader in stormwater management solutions, the preferred choice of professionals, and the largest supplier of channel drains in North America. Our commitment is to provide proven products, tools, and expert support to help you get the job done right.

Totally fixed my end-of-sidewalk drainage issue. Originally planning to install this, butting it up to existing sidewalk and filling in dirt around sides. Called NDS tech support - they were emphatic about cementing in the drain. Otherwise it may work itself out of the ground if you have a freeze\thaw cycle in the winter. Bought a 4 foot piece of 1/4" rebar, cut it in pieces and used it to anchor the drain in the ground. www.ndspro.com is a great informative website.

Did not fit together well , had to screw them to make them tight , the pipe attachment does not fit regular pvc pipe or regular adapters , had to buy a 10 foot drain pipe with a molded fitted end just to cut off the end to get the needed fitting . bought 5 of them , only 2 had the 2 end pieces .

I would recommend this product but only after explaining some of the limitations. - 5" width should be adequate to capture the amount of flow during heavy rains. - What I disliked is the following -- The connector for a 3" PVC Elbo (on the side) was Sloppy. It was not a tight fit and could only be accomplished with much glue -- The side mount that you put on the trench that has the knock out did NOT securely slide and stay into the grove. Glue did not initially hold. I had to add additional screws to make it stay in place. - What I liked. -- Fairly well made other than the slop for the elbo and side plate. (fixable with additional screws) -- Adjustable.. If 40" too much then you can cut it shorter. -- Came with a 4" pipe converter (you can put a spacer on there that lets you go directly to 4" PVC) First big rain will be tonight.. If it does not work it is clearly due to me not putting in the ideal locations.

Held together by faith and soil pressure
We have a low spot on the edge of the driveway that collects snow melt every year and turns into an ice rink... so I was pretty excited to get this installed and tapped into my drainage system before the snow hits. Unfortunately, installation is a real bear and now I'm just hoping it stays together long enough to last the winter, so I can replace it with something else. It has several drainage openings (sides, bottom, etc.) available as both 3 and 4 inch sewer fittings. Buuuuuuuut, it's made of a plastic that can't be glued to the fittings or pipes. So you can either pressure fit it, or use a heavy bead of silicone. In either option you're just praying that soil heave doesn't separate the two. The ends are open so you can connect several in a line, or use the provided end caps to connect to a 4 inch line. Buuuuuuuuuuut, there's really nothing that "locks" the end caps in place. They sort of loosely sit there... and as mentioned above, a heavy bead of silicon and some soil pressure is all that keeps the ends in place. I understand this is rain runoff, and not a high pressure system... but I'd like something more than blind faith holding the thing together. The top grate is well built and will hold up well to my 5,000 lb. tractor running over it. It's easily removable with a few screws if you need to clean it (or add more silicon... see above). It has 6 slots for rebar on the sides (3 on each side), and some 2 foot rebar ensures it won't move much left to right. BUUUUUUUUT the rebar slots are cheap, and two of them broke while I was driving the bar. So I'm down to 4 rebars right now.

    Great for draining landscape beds
This is a five inch wide channel drain kit, with a 40 inch long modular drain, an end cap, and an end outlet. System is designed so that it can be cut to almost any length. It is designed to handle light, low speed traffic. Unit has both side drain and bottom drain options. It is built well, constructed of heavy gauge polypropylene, and it’s very sturdy. Unit has a top grate that will allow water to pass through but will keep most smaller stones out. If you plan on using it for drainage in a planting bed with mulch, I would recommend you cover the drain grate with a geo fabric or landscape fabric to keep the mulch from passing through the grate, but still allow for water flow. I installed the unit in an in-ground pool area, where the perimeter of the concrete deck is lined with a three foot stone bed. After the bed, there is a landscaped area that has built up in height over the years, and rain water was collecting in the stone area unable to drain over the top of the landscape mound. I installed this unit about three inches below the stone grade and covered it with smaller sized landscape stone, connected black drainage pipe to one end, and cut the pipe into the landscape area below grade until it reached the lawn’s edge. This setup now effectively drains the rock area into the grass and so far no clogging issues. Top grate is built in sections and each can be removed for cleaning by removing screws. It was easy to install, end cap slides on, and I used silicone sealant to seal the end and also attached the end drain fitting. You do have to cutout the drain hole where you want it, and then use the silicone to make the seal/bond - so you need some drying time on the sealant.

    Just a Few Nagging Concerns...
Our major home rebuild was completed 2 years ago….but there’s still the driveway to tackle. The original drainage “fix” makes mowing difficult and doesn’t address the water pooling at the expansion joint (see before photos). We think this will be just the fix as we plan to repair these troublesome sections of the driveway. This driveway sits in some hot, hot Texas sunshine and my only concern are reviews saying sunlight might compromise the integrity of the plastic….and whether or not grate replacements are available if and when the time comes. Since the grates are a separate component from the body of the channel, secured in place by Phillips-head screws, we won’t have the clean-out problem we have with the present, poor-boy solution the original homeowner chose….or the mowing problem.

    Dual drainage
Very surprised at what I discovered in this item. What I thought was a single purpose has changed into a more dimensionally useful drain, a drainage system to be precise. Measuring 5 5/8''x 4 3/4" x 3' 3" and weighing approximately 5lbs. This is a sturdy and universal component for anyone looking to channel or divert water at their home or business. This comes with an end slide in fixture . A 3"pipe end fixture , a knock out for the bottom and a union for graduation to larger pipe. This also comes in 3' ,5' ,8' and 12' The grate is removable with a #2 phillips, for easy cleaning. What makes this so good for me is I can tie my gutters into the side and drain through the side top to bottom. We stopped our project and re-evaluated it because of the uniqueness of this . Making it a better system for our needs. So impressed by how well thought out this is.
