Product Details

Preserve your property from water damage with a decorative grate that complements its surroundings. The Spee-D Channel Drain Grate features a botanical design, and drains surface water while blocking leaves and debris before they can enter and clog the pipeline. Works with Spee-D Channel Drain, part of the NDS Profile Channel series, to drain light flows from driveways, patios, pool areas, courtyards, and walkways. Drain grate, or drain cover, has an open surface area of 7.8 sq. in. per ft., 24 GPM per ft. flow rate. Made of polyethylene treated with UV inhibitors. Channel drains, also called trench drains, are long, narrow drains used for surface drainage of hardscapes. As part of a complete drainage system, channel drains collect and convey water to drain pipes, which carry the water downstream to discharge with a pop-up emitter, or to percolate into the ground with a dry well or infiltration trench.       A:  Not as a recommendation of product use, this would not be acceptable for any application nor would it be able to sit properly into a channel and would be a modified product and void any warranty.

        A:  Hello ADM, As long as the channel is installed in concrete and is drained properly where there will be little or no water standing after a rain event in the channel, it should do fine during a freeze. Thanks for shopping with the Home Depot

            Excellent base for potted plants
            I know this product is intended to be used as a covering for drain holes / pipes, but when I saw it I knew it would be perfect in my garden. I love the fern / leaf design - not too feminine yet it appeals to my girly side. I have potted plants on one side of my sidewalk because the ground retains water and is very spongy. Having my plants in pots keeps the roots from getting soggy, but the pots keep sinking into the ground unevenly. As a result, my pots are leaning rather than sitting upright. This rectangular grate is the perfect solution! To use, I simply smoothed the ground slightly so the grate would sit level and then I placed two of my potted plants onto the grate, along with a decorative metal bunny.. The grate drains, so water can easily disperse to the ground below. I am hoping this will help keep my bunny from rusting over time. The plastic is very thick - I stepped on the grate while it rested on my sidewalk and it felt very sturdy. There's a 1" rim below the decorative face that can be pushed down to ground level, giving the grate stability so it won't shimmy around. I noticed on Home Depot's website that the product can be purchased in other neutral colors such as black, gray and tan. Nice to have options other than green! These are slightly pricey, but I will definitely buy more in the future.

            Gorgeous Detail and Color!
            This is a beautifully constructed grate. It is thick and sturdy; very well made and looks just beautiful. I have included some pictures for you to see what I mean. It is very strong and should wear very well thru various seasons of weather. The lip fits well over the edge. The color is rich and vibrant and the design would look good most anywhere! Very pleased. Very good value for the price! (watch the Home Depot Video and it will tell you what size screws to get)

            Really Pretty vent cover
            The Spee-D Channel Botanical Design Grate in Green is a nice feature to cover an old vent that gets full of soil and leaves. It has ample size air holes, while giving extra protection from things that get stuck on the metal screen. It is both attractive and practical. It is made of thick sturdy plastic that will not rust, and is resilient to the elements. It does not come with screws, but I did not remove the screen behind it.

            Great take on an old product with a new material!
            This is a nice grate. I thought it would fit a channel I have near the garage, but I was wrong. I'm wondering what this fits? I'll look for the trough/drain because it's so nice. I got another grate that fit an old drain perfectly. One thing I found out is the material is Strong! I think it's some kind of Nylon that's reinforced with something. Even though this did not fit my trough, I'll probably replace my existing trough when I find the correct trough.

            Almost too pretty for driving over!
            This grate is so pretty, it doesn't look as though it should be covering a drain area. I purchased the item, not noting the correct dimensions. I thought it was 2 feet x 1 foot ... and was going to use it as a garden stepping stone. Instead it is the 4" width to use end-to-end for a long grating area, such as in front of our garage. When the new metal grate currently in place begins to show wear, I'll order a collection of these botanical design grates to cover the 30+ foot drainage trough in the concrete driveway.

            Nice design; very sturdy
            This is for a new drain and it actually worked better than expected since we have gravel in the area where the drain was installed and we've had trouble with the small rocks falling into our larger, existing grate. The pattern makes it more difficult for the little rocks to get into the drain. The grate is heavy and very sturdy. I also like the design; it adds to the pathway and still functions as it should. Just so you know, there are no screws included if you plan to attach it to a drain box. You'll have some difficulty finding something that matches.
