Questions & Answers

Is this rated for a 100w heat lamp? Thank you!

Is this rated for a 100w heat lamp? Thank you!
Asked by: ronsong
This is a hard question to answer without knowing what kind of trim will be used. This housing has built-in thermal protecting safe guards that will shut off power to the light at around 180° F. If you were to use an enclosed trim, like a shower trim, the heat would build up and trigger the thermal protector guards. If you were to use a trim that was not enclosed, such as an open trim, I don't think there would be an issue. You do also want to make sure the trim you use is rated to handle a 100W heat lamp as well.
