Product Details

'Poukhanense Compacta' bears clusters of lavender flowers that draw in butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Its lavender petals feature a rosy-purple central blotch and a mild, pleasant aroma. Evergreen in mild climates, its deep green foliage takes on orange-red tones in autumn for a pop of late-season color. 'Poukhanense Compacta' makes an excellent border plant, landscape specimen or grouping as a naturalizing hedge.
  • Includes 1 azalea poukhanense compacta in 2.25 a Gal. grower pot
  • Best suited for USDA hardiness zones 4-9, but will perform well in colder zones with proper winter protection
  • Mature size is 3 ft. to 6 ft. tall and 6 ft. to 12 ft. W
  • Springtime display of fragrant lavender blossoms
  • Grows as a low, dense shrub and tolerates cold winters

Q:Do they need a lot of sun or do they do well in a little more shaded area?

Answer This Question

A:  They enjoy sun. In Florida, I have seen them close to houses without much direct sunlight and doing well. In Tennessee, they need more sun - maybe a much as possible. The east side if a house isn't enough sun to develop strong bushes like in the picture.

        It arrived nice and it looks healthy. It’s still in the original pots. I was going to plant it in the yard till I read that deer loves it. So I planted it in the back yard (fenced in) The leaves all dead now. But it looks like it’ll come back. Or I’m hoping it’ll comes back.
