Is there a bowl insert for the wood

Is there a removable ash catcher available to make clanup easy?

Asked by Bill November 5, 2020

There is not an ash catcher included with the kit. We recommend after you install the fire pit you put in gravel and then sand. The sand will make it easier to scoop out the ashes.

Any recommendations on model of grate to use to circulate air under the wood?

Asked by Steve October 20, 2020

I will buy a fireplace grate to put inside so air can circulate better when building the fire. It may also make it easier to clean the ashes.

How is air drawn into the fire pit from the bottom?

Asked by Janette September 11, 2020

I didn’t have an air flow issue. I had enough pea gravel at the bottom so the top of the fire pit was about 8” above the gravel.

Beware, colors are off...I ordered the Desert color and the it looks red. Like red brick. Does not match the image online. Luckily HD is very accommodating and going to do a pick up without charge and allow me to reorder in the Santa Fe color. The fire pit looks great. Looks to be heavy duty. Can't wait for the new one to arrive!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It's beautiful. Took an hour to build start to finish, this includes unloading it from the pallet and hauling it to the backyard, by myself (my husband was unavailable). Received the item and it was assembled so it made it easy to see what the finished product would look like. Mine shipped with 3 "extra" stones which was nice because I didnt have to use the couple with larger, chipped corners. The gloves were the perfect touch! So happy they were included. You definitely need to remember to get the 29oz caulk gun if you don't have one. I bought the additional cap for the top of the fire pit and there was enough caulk for that as well. Mine is on a concrete deck by the pool. I filled it with 7 bags of gravel and 4 bags of sand.

Very happy with this fire pit. Super easy to assemble. Make sure you have a caulking gun for large tubes. They sent the stone adhesive but it's not the standard tube size.

This kit is a good value. It arrives assembled. I had it shipped to my local store. I had to disassemble it to get it home (it all fits in the back of a Prius). Several of the blocks were chipped but I just picked those out and used them for the bottom course of block. It is extremely easy to assemble. The only thing you need in addition to the kit is a level and a large caulk gun.

Easy project to assemble
Very simple to put together and enjoy a fire all in the same night. Our individuals form our group home love to look at the sky line and cook some s'mores, relax and sit by the fire.

Simple, functional, attractive...
This fire pit was easy to assemble and provides a nice centerpiece for our patio. It is important to have a level spot to start. There are two main components - the steel liner and the stones. Although the steel liner is designed to rest inside the two uppermost rings of stone, we used it as a template when placing the lower tiers. Once those stones were in place, we pulled out the liner and continued with the top layer. We opted to not use the adhesive just in case we wanted to move the fire pit. The stones fit so well that the final product is very stable. Read other reviews for tips on the adhesive. I chose to have the product delivered and it was a good investment. It'd take some work to get it on and off a truck without some sort of forklift. The entire parcel arrives on a pallet (see photo), wrapped in plastic, and pre-assembled. The downside is that you have to take it apart to install it. The upside is that you know what it's supposed to look like when you're finished.

Can't beat it!
I love it! I had it shipped to my local HD store. It comes assembled on a wooden pallet. With a fork lift, the folks at HD loaded it into my pickup truck. Couldn't have been easier. Rather than digging a whole in my yard and filling it with stone to set the pit, I used 2"x16"-square pavers for a flat and level base. 16 pavers gave me a 64"x64" base on which to set the fire pit. It took about four hours, for two of us, to complete the project. The majority of the time was given to digging, leveling, sanding and setting the 16-inch square pavers. (Dug 2 inches deep, added one inch of sand for leveling and set the pavers about one inch AGL.) After that, the pit was erected in less than an hour. It comes with a steel fire ring that helps to perfect the radius of the pit, along with cement that assures the pit blocks will not shift out of place. Also included in the "kit" is a pair of heavy duty work gloves that were appreciated, but a little bulky for the work required. Don't leave The HD store without a large caulking gun. The tube of cement that comes with the kit will not fit in the typical household caulking gun. The weather in my area hasn't been real chilly yet, but I've used the pit a couple times. It works fine! Highly recommend it.

Great kit for an informal fire pit!
The kit, weighing over 1000 pounds, arrives at the store on a pallet. Two HD guys helped me unload the pallet and load each block into my Outback..... very helpful. Kit comes complete with everything needed, but I had to buy an extra tube of adhesive to finsh the job. If you don't have a LARGE caulck gun, pick one up before you leave HD. Be aware that a good wire brush is needed to clean dust from the blocks before gluing. Note that there are 3 extra blocks shipped with the kit!! For the finished product... it's a nice firepit. The blocks have slight spacing between them so the pit is vented as needed. The steel ring IS very heavy duty. It should last a lifetime. As with any project, prep is the key... I put in a stone base set the pit on stone pavers. Once glued and assembled, this is a great-looking, sturdy fire pit at a great price (purchased on sale). I would recommend!
