AnswersThe deck tiles would not prevent the wood from rotting. It would continue to deteriorate. You may want to use an overcoat to protect your existing deck under the deck tile. The weight of the deck tiles would keep it attached to your existing deck and you do not need to either nail or screw it into the wood.

Can these be layer over an old dirt planter? Or does there need to be a barrier? Trying to fill an odd empty space near pool.

As compared to tile or stamped concrete this product is very easy to install. I converted my tile saw into a small table saw to cut and used a plastic mallet to pop into place. Tiling a 53 sq. ft. front porch took me a week. It took 2 six hour days to do a 300 sq. ft. screened porch deck with New Techwood including the moulding around the edge. The cost is understandable considering the engineering and precision production processes which must have gone into this product. With average DIY skills, the job went well. I'd definitely recommend it.

From the minute we took it out of the box and saw the quality and how easy it to put together, we knew we were going to like it. It can be interchanged easily into different styles, which we did before finally doing it the way we wanted. It makes the patio area look wonderfully well done. Pleased so far. Wear and tear? Don’t know yet but it looks like it will last a very long time. Time will tell.
