Answer

Hello Joe. Pure rain won't make it through, but some water or moisture may come through if it bounces in. Please email us at inquiry@newtechwood.com if you have any further questions or sample request.

Can this be installed directly over existing wood siding?

No this needs to have that siding taken off first.

Can this be installed over plywood sheathing and not use furring strips

Asked by Mick June 29, 2019
1
Answer

Hello Mick. Yes, our siding can be install over plywood sheathing but not without furring strips, if installed as a wall. Furring strips are necessary for air flow and for the siding trim to properly be installed. This means it cannot be installed directly onto any moisture barrier. The only exception would be in case of soffit installation (which can be installed on plywood, without furring strips). If you have any further questions, please contact us at inquiry@newtechwood.com.

Can this be installed over OSB sheathing with Tyvek house wrap without furring strips?

Asked by Claus April 13, 2020

Answer

Hello Claus. No, it cannot. Furring strips are necessary for air flow and for the siding trim to properly be installed. The only exception would be in case of soffit installation. This means it cannot be installed directly onto any moisture barrier. This is not the case for interior installations, or for soffit. Please if you have any further questions please email us at inquiry@newtechwood.com or call us at 281-570-6450.

How do i attach this to concrete for a vertical application?

Asked by Tammy December 10, 2018
1
Answer

Hi, Tammy. You could not attach the siding to the concrete directly, but would have to use either aluminum or wooden joists, attached to the concrete via lag screws. Additionally, please keep in mind that for a vertical application, you would not use a starter strip, but could use the US44 end fascia (see http://www.newtechwood.com/siding.html#fascia).

is this finished on both sides

Asked by Darrell November 28, 2018

Answer

Hi, Darrell. Yes it is finished on both sides, but the back of the siding board is smooth as it is not seen once it is installed.

Easy to assemble, durable, great value.
If you can use a rubber mallet, you can assemble this composite decking. It snaps together which makes assembly a breeze. Cutting pieces to size can be a little tricky as you need to make sure your cut isn’t on one of the metal screws underneath the plastic assembly web. I recommend the following before purchasing. 1) Make sure the area you’re laying these down on is straight and level and must also be clean. 2) Begin by laying out the deck tiles in a 90-degree pattern so that you can determine how many pieces you’ll be needing to complete the project. Order extra pieces for errors and damage. I recommend at least one extra box (10 pieces). 3) Order the edging and it will make your project look very professional and safe. 4) Avoid any circular patterns as cutting these deck tiles only really work for 90-degree angles due to the snap-in connections. If you must make a circular pattern, you’ll have to use an adhesive which sort of defeats the purpose of using these deck tiles due to their construction snap-in design. 5) Unsnapping the deck tiles is takes some muscle as the edges are sharp so be careful. 6) I recommend removing the deck tiles every other year or so to clean/sweep underneath them and to inspect he subflooring for any damage.
