UltraShield Naturale Cortes 1 in. x 6 in. x 8 ft. Spanish Walnut Solid Composite Decking Board

Quality composite lumber that was utilized for patio table top. Turned out beautiful!

Boards were delivered three to a package and were in excellent condition - the ends were clean and only ever-so-slightly off-square, very straight with no warpage or bowing of any sort. Cutting was easy and quick, but routing was somewhat problematic as the plastic coating had a tendency to melt rather than cut, causing the router bit to float on top instead of biting cleanly. Reducing each pass to a 1/16" cut solved the problem but slowed the process. Using deck screws to secure the planks to the structure resulted in a bit of mushrooming, despite pilot holes - will use countersink bit on the next benchtop. Also, I soaked some remnants in water overnight to check weather resistance and was pleased to see that they appear to be 100% waterproof.

This worked out great. I used the New TechWood for shelves on an outdoor plant stand. Looks great too.

I bought 25 Boards costing slightly under $1000.00 bucks. These were not gonna be used for a deck, but for a custom 12 ft. gate. I don't know how they could possibly hold up as a deck that people walk on. I believe that they would not hold up to scratches etc. for very long. These boards scratch very easily, and unlike regular wood, you cannot sand them ane refinish them. I would not buy this product again.

I used this composite board for a custom trolling motor bracket. It has all the right properties of being weather/water proof, workable with hand or power tools, can be drilled and tapped with precision. Can't really be glued reliably so all joints are screwed/bolted. I found actual size to be 7/8" x 5 5/8". Do like the extra thickness. Can be painted with plastic-friendly paint.

The product performed as advertised. However you need to heed the manufacturer's advice when not installing fasteners too close to the edge as it will shear off. I was able to "toenail" some screws where I needed them by pre-drilling the holes first. You don't have to pre-drill the holes for standard installation, however when using "non-mushrooming" screws it makes the installation a lot easier, once I realized this i pre-drilled every hole. I chose the Charcoal because it matches the hot tub, on the face of the risers I will be installing stacked stone that matches the adjacent pool. The photos are not the final product but does depict the decking. I tried to pocket screw the butt joints from underneath but that failed the material is too hard.

I worked with these boards over weekend and really loved them. I would order these again. The cutting was clean and easy on the miter saw, with dust that was a little thicker than sawdust. Running the shop vac with the miter saw simultaneously made clean up a bit easier. This was way easier to clean up than the PVC boards I cut. They were a mess. These boards feel equal in quality to that of an Azek or a Trex. These feel far nicer than the Verdana bottom level boards at HD.
