Nice quality-excellent construction
I like this product because it’s very easy to install, it’s very beefy, and it has good accessibility for junction box placement. I installed is using 18 gauge bell wire and as you can see from the photos it was very easy for a full installation from the front doorbell itself all the way to the doorbell chimes. Notice the white wire going past the transformer from the doorbell to the chimes. All I did was cut splice the red wire into both sides of the transformer and I was good to go. The transformer comes with a half inch insert with a ring that screws right down into the junction box so no worries there. Just twist and go when you’re done. Nice quality

This 16V 30VA transformer replaced a working 20 year old 16V 10VA transformer, for more power for a new video security doorbell system in my home. The installation required drilling additional holes in the existing metal mount (that anchored it to the wall) that was used by the old transformer, so it was not exactly a plug-and-play / drop-in replacement. It came with a rubber band. Is that a grommet for insulation of some kind, or can it be discarded? The Home Depot price was good, and it is UL certified, and that was important for me in a transformer. It is working well so far and does not feel hot.

Sometimes the hardest part of the task is getting started – finding the old one in your house can sometimes be tricky. Mine, as it turned out, was in the attic by the switch used to service the HVAC unit. Once the old one located, simply ensure the power is turned off and remove the old one. The new transformer is then installed and turn on the power. I then checked voltage at the door bell in the house. This is a DIY job – no problems.

It works! This transformer has the minimum specs required for the Ring doorbell Pro. Although some other cheaper / underpowered ones may work (temporarily), this one is the way to go to avoid any issues. I installed it to replace a very old transformer and the Ring Pro works well with it. Took me a few minutes to install it myself. They can be difficult to locate in your home, but usually found by the circuit breaker. Definitely a DIY job. Turn the power to the whole house off using the main switch on the circuit breaker to avoid touching anything live. I also used a non-contact voltage tester to double check that the power is off. Removed the old one, attached the new one, connected some wires and turned the power back on. So far it’s quiet, no humming or buzzing and everything works as intended.

I have a very old house that has never had an electric doorbell. It has a hole in the front door framing, where a pull chain bell had been. I figured I would get a Ring Pro Doorbell to cover the hole and give me the least evasive security camera. The instruction said I would need a transformer, and knowing very little about doorbell transformers, this one stood out for being described 'compatible with Ring Pro'. The transformer has a real simple design. Three wires for input (hot, neutral and ground) and two screws for output. The polarity of the output does not seem to matter (i.e no + or - ). Was simple to set up. Just knock out a slug from a junction box, and connect it with the threaded adapter (plastic nut included). I had some old thermostat wire (18/2), I had felt over from putting in a new boiler, that I used to run to the Ring Pro. I am using the Ring Pro Chime for a doorbell. So, no wiring needed for it. Only been a day, but everything seems to be working fine; well, maybe too many Motion alerts. P.S., I like they took the time to coat the input lines in solder (see pic).

Love that it will work with my Ring video camera. I will have to hire an electrician as my previous transformer quit working. Right now I have my Ring Doorbell connected to battery and have to charge it almost every month since it gets so much activity. It will be really great to get this transformer hooked up so I don't have to worry about charging it anymore!
