do these lights do the falling rain/drip pattern?

No, each 4" icicle has only 1/one LED bulb. They are more like a chasing motion with several choices from fade to chasing to steady on.They connect end to end with 1/one control for all the lights.

There's 1/one LED bulb in each icicle, NOT changeable. There are multiple colors of bulbs. There are several settings adjustable from fade to chasing to steady on

What length will one string span? If I want to cover an 80 ft span how many strings will I need?

It is what it says,One 80 LED icicle light set with smart control +/and/also another 80 icicle string that connects end to end. So, 160 LED icicle bulbs controlled by 1/one Smart control.

I bought 2 sets - 3 sets went on the house and I put one string on my deck. The string on my deck worked for one week and quit so now I’m nervous about how long the ones on the house are going to last. Not worth the money if that’s the quality.

Not waterproof
I have had these lights and after a couple of rains they slowly quit working. The company has sent multiple replacements saying they resolved the problem but the same thing happened every time. I finally got tired of replacing them. If you can place them in a dry spot you might have better luck. I love the programmable feature of these lights they are fantastic if only they would last for more tan a couple months.

We will not recommend submerging the lights, or placing in a wet location if you are within warranty and have proof of purchase we be happy to replace your product.
