Assembly was not too difficult, the worst part was sliding the slat sections into the frames. Directions were easy to follow. Forget the power drill to screw in the little screws to assemble the awning; screws are short, and I stripped out the holes in the first 2 before I set down the drill and grabbed a screwdriver (wasn't hard to screw in the screws, just took longer is all). The awning was installed on a 1970's mobile home, so no, the mounting holes for the side panels did not land on a stud, which helps stabilize the awning. I had to buy 2 corner angles to get it anchored to the home. I also bought flashing for the top of the awning where it mounts to the house, to ensure water would not run between house and awning. We haven't had much wind since the awning was installed, so I can't say how well it will withstand the wind, but the awning seems strong enough to withstand a moderate wind.

Only four stars due to the horrible instructions and photos to assemble this awning. Took several hours and two people to assemble and mount above door. Otherwise, it is a nice awning and provides coverage against rain for our small back porch.

I wasn't thrilled with the small openings on both sides. Haven't had much time to see how well it shelters that area. Need more rainy and/or snow days to see how well it works.
