Questions & Answers

I have a mercury 690-696 A unit - is this what I will need to replace the fan? The housing measurements are 8.25x7.5

Asked by: Emily
yes, this fan will work for the dimensions you provided. but what's most important is what dimension of pipe you have venting out of the house. is it a 3 inch diameter or 4 inch? you don't want to put a fan with a 4 inch exhaust on a 3 inch pipe because you'll run the risk of overheating the motor and burning it out. so measure before you go to the store and buy. also get ready for the sound close to a jet airliner taking off every time you turn this fan on...

I have a 1999 model Nutone 70 CFM that fit into dimensions 7.25 x 8.25. What unit would replace that today? Tl

The 8.25 side is the one with the exhaust. L or W?
Asked by: Ira
Model #695 fit the existing NuTone housing with those dimensions. I didn’t hook up the exhaust but it works fine in our 1970’s house

I’m replacing an existing fan in my bathroom. The hole in the wall is 8 1/2” x 8 1/2”. Will the outer cover fully cover this hole?

Asked by: Matt
The cover measures just over 8.5 x 9 inches so it might work

I bought this to replace my existing bathroom fan. The new fan has the exhaust pointing to the right and my existing one is pointing to the left towards the outside of my house. How do I modify this?
Asked by: DP
Doubt you can modify this one, or else, invert it with exhaust on down side (maybe). Fan blades only turn one way to create the fan and suction effect. I used the data plate, model and serial number from the old fan to match up for this one. This is a very common model but you may have something different. Good luck.

This purchase was made to replace an existing motor bearing failure in the same model in our bath. It was necessary to purchase the entire unit (normally a motor replacement is available). The new motor and insert panel fit perfectly and there was a quick change out as a result. The new motor operated as expected. I recommend this model. it is moderately quiet and moves a larger volume of air then the original unit which had a smaller turbine.

When I went back to return it, I found the correct one by going to the department and opening up a box for just the motor. Turns out the number on the box for the correct unit was mis labeled. Anyway, I got the job done.

Works great, a little loud like a plane taking off, but it works better than the 50cfm I had, easy to install, since I only transferred the motor and fan out, it was even easier though a little customization was needed for fit of both motor and fan blades.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost vs ? Bought this to replace an old unit... Old unit worked, just looked like hellO, this is a tad quieter than the old, but still you can hear it.... I bought this for several reasons - 1 it looked to be the same as my previous (sizing) - it was fit PERFECTLY install was a breeze... For the sound level, sure its up their, but face it it runs when your in the shower and on the can.... I wont be using as a "ceiling" fan.... If you want ultra quiet go spend $100+ not $30..... My plugged nickle... For the Price - its a good item....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I have this in my 5x5 bathroom and it works great! The only downfall is that is pretty loud. But in all honesty it's better for your guests. This way you won't hear what their doing in there
