Bronco Charcoal Drum Smoker Grill in Black

I love this thing!

I've been running this cooker for nearly two years now, and I have definitely put it through it's paces. I've cooked ribs, brisket, pork butts, chicken thighs, chicken wings, whole chicken, bacon, pork belly, and the list goes on. I've hung ribs and used the grate and both methods turn out excellent, with slightly different flavor profiles. I received one of the early models that had the mounting points for the upper air intake tube welded on upside down. I didn't bother to call customer service and get the replacement piece, as it really isn't needed. This cooker maintains a very steady temp throughout the cook. The impact to airflow control is negligible if even at all. The features that you get in this cooker for the price are simply unmatched. Hinged lid with kevlar gasket, ash pan setup, porcelain-coated cooking grate, and the diffuser plate give you a LOT of bang for your buck. Add to that the 12 gauge cold rolled steel construction and you've got a major winner! You really don't have to do a thing to this cooker and that the thicker construction means more stable temps in cold or windy weather. This cooker has produced, hands down, the best chicken wings of any cooker I've used - even when using mods on other cookers. The heavier steel and flat-top lid create an even heat at the top of the cooker that crisps up the skin and browns it very nicely. This year I'm looking to add the Bronco Pro to my lineup to compliment this cooker and add some additional capacity. If you're on the fence about which way to go, you need to look no further than the Oklahoma Joe Bronco. Dollar for dollar, you won't find a better and more versatile cooker at this price point.

I have had this smoker for about 2 months now. I love how easy it is to control the temps. I am able to get long burns and still have charcoal leftover.

I've been smoking food for over twenty years. I've used offset smokers, water-pan bullet smokers, even my BBQ kettle. This thing beats them all... The metal on this is THICK and heavy which means it holds temp even when it's cold outside. Super efficient burning coals, can easily cook for 8hrs holding temps in a 5-7 degree range with ease. AND when your done cooking, just close the dampers and it snuffs out the coals almost immediately, so you can use them for your next cook! Cooked brisket on this beast and tastes as good as it does coming off my offset. Ribs come out great too (I usually flip them half-way through the cook). Pro-tips - a little wood goes a long way on this BBQ and get some digital thermometers.

The Bronco Drum Smoker is a well designed sturdy smoker that was easy to assemble (it took me 45 minutes). I had one issue that was not the fault of the manufacturer (most likely the distributor), but the issue was addressed via a chat session on their web site. I can not overemphasize how impressed I was with the service provided and how they back-up their product. I am a beginner smoker and started off with a pork shoulder - it allowed for me to gain an understanding of how to light the fuel source and control airflow for desired temperature. If your looking for a well designed, high quality smoker with a manufacturer that stands by their product then I strongly recommend this smoker.

Got my bronco yesterday. Took about half hour to put together, easy job. Broke it in this morning and first grill this afternoon. Love it. It’s everything I expected from Oklahoma Joe’s. I was originally in the market for an acorn as I wanted a charcoal grill to complement my pellet smoker, I am very pleased with the bronco because I can use it both as a grill and a smoker. The bronco itself is a well made unit and I’m sure it will last a long time.

I have always known charcoal has big advantages when cooking and definitely when smoking. So although I do use real fresh wood I also use hickory pellets. I do wish the unit had a tub to allow adding smoking materials it works just fine as it is. This is by far the beat ever. I will say this if you can swing the double price get the larger unit because if you are like me I smoke all weekend the package and freeze for winter. As we live North East America. And for those doing Turkey go the extra step and soak the bird over night in Brin as it make the most juicy tender turkey you will ever have. Dave

This drum is my first smoker and I must say, I’ve been missing out. I couldn’t have made a better choice for on a smoker. You can NOT go wrong with this awesome drum. It is perfectly built and does a great job. I saw a SPICEOLOGY video smoking pork ribs with this bad boy and I ran out to buy it. NO REGRETS!!!

I bought the Bronco about 2 months ago. I have been on it every weekend, plus and I am impressed. I have smoked and grilled chicken legs, wings, whole chickens, burgers, short ribs and today 2 briskets. Everything has come out amazing! What has really impressed me is the cooking time you can get from this tank. I started my cook at 2:00am, 21 hours later it was still burning hot and consistent. I would have kept it going to see how long it would burn, but I was done! Impressive!
