Sure, in a pinch. It's cast iron, not tool steel, and will eventually dent with hammer blows.

This is an ASO
This is an ASO (Anvil Shaped Object). Cast iron is horrible when it comes to blacksmithing, they chip and break easily. If you are new to blacksmithing and are looking for an anvil its best to look through scrap or to just find a steel block.
