A:  As much as I would like to answer this question, I can't. This forum is where other customers helps each other. Any questions regrading store policies, inventory, availability and such... should be directed to management at home depot. Your friends and fellow customers have no inside knowledge of business operations. Try calling the store and asking. If someone there can't help you, perhaps they can direct you to someone who can. Best wishes!

Q:can you cut this with a saw (jigsaw)?
      by|Apr 24, 2020
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  It is possible, but not easy. Jig-saws reciprocate, so they make thin materials like this vibrate. If a jigsaw is the only tool available, it's best to sandwich the plastic with a sacrificial board and clamp it securely, very near to to the cut. And you need a VERY fine-tooth blade. A hand scroll saw or jeweler's saw is slow but much safer. A band saw might work, but you'd need a fine tooth blade. If you are only making straight cuts, then you can score the cut-line with multiple light passes using a utility knife. Then place the scored line on the edge of a sturdy table and break the plastic. Long cuts require a board to direct force along the entire score-line. Shorter cuts can be easily broken out with a hammer. I suggest you watch a few videos before attempting this technique. It requires a certain touch. Another method uses a rotary tool ( like dremel ) and a straight edge to score the plastic. That's usually what I do at home in the shop. The rotary tool is safe, and makes a deeper score-line, which in turn, makes the break-off a "snap!" ( pun intended ;-) It's also possible to score a straight cut line with an angle grinder, but again, that requires a straight edge and a delicate touch. Hope that helps!

Q:Can you drill holes in the corners to hang this product?

A:  Hello, Yes you can, thank you.

      by|Apr 27, 2020

        A:  yes

        by|Apr 26, 2020

A:  Yes, you could do that. Although I'd recommend reinforcing those holes with some sturdier material: Two blocks of thin wood, heavy card board, layers of duct-tape or nylon reinforced packing tape... any of those would provide more security. Also, be careful to drill those holes an inch or two away from the edges. The reason is, plastic like this is brittle and prone to cracking if you place stress on the edges. For best results when drilling plastic, use a drill guide, a drill press or just two small blocks of wood to keep the drill vertical and steady. Use SLOW speed! Fast drilling or unsupported dilling can cause cracks in the blink of an eye. And please remember that, because plastic is brittle and can shatter, protective eye-wear is a must.

This is a neat alternative to the standard white dry erase board. It's a crystal clear sheet of acrylic plastic, without a frame, that is designed to serve as a dry erase surface. I wanted a nice looking dry erase surface that I could mount on the wall that my two daughters to use for homework or drawing. It has a protective film on both sides of the plastic sheet--one a thick paper like sticker, and the other a thinner clear film. I couldn't tell if one side was the "front" surface that should be used as the dry erase surface. Two things I like about this dry erase sheet: 1. You can trim it down to a smaller size if you need a custom size, and 2. It can mount on a painted wall or surface, allowing the wall color to come through, making the sheet a more discreet and unobtrusive than a typical white board. The sheet is flexible, so I will need to think about how to mount it flat against a wall so that it does not bow or flex. The edges of the sheet are not polished and do have some visible roughness from being cut, so I would like to either polish them or cover them. The one downside is that I have to figure out whether to polish the edges or frame the sheet before mounting, and if so, how to frame it. Then I need to figure out how to best mount it. It is nice to have this flexibility, but it is a small project that is now on my To Do list, versus quickly mounting a pre-made dry erase board.

Easy to use in a variety of scout or team activities, with or without cutting to shape. I used this with our 1st-5th grade Scouts to track derby results, or more accurately, I gave it to an older scout to track the events. No worries about lettering or layout, since it’s easily erased and corrected. I include this board now in our travel kit, along with poster boards and giveaways, so that we can display our next 5 upcoming events, important stats, or our menu prices for a concession stand. To make sure I understood the product, I did call the factory and confirmed that the side of the acrylic that has a white protective backing is the side you want to write on with dry-erase markers, after you remove the white backing. They’ve applied a special coating to that side only, although the uncoated side (clear backing) works ok for markers, it is easier to erase on the coated side. For cutting, a table saw is the easiest way to make a clean, straight cut, but a circular saw is OK too. I enthusiastically recommend this project for all kinds of teams, scouts, fundraisers, and school events!

This product is an acrylic sheet of plastic with a white paper backing on one side of sheet. A clear plastic film protects writing side until you are ready to use it. It works OK, but isn't what I would consider a typical white board. It is very flexible unless mounted directly to a solid surface. There are no clear instructions provided to tell you what side to write on - in fact they seem to imply that wrong side is the writing side. I mounted mine to a shop door for notes and project drawings. I used the removable 3M brand mounting strips. I may have to remount it more securely because the sheet flexes between the mounting strip.

Not the same thickness as advertised.
I bought a sheet of this, because I needed 0.118" thick material. When I got it back to the shop, it measured as 0.125" thick. I will not be able to use it for the project intended.
