When it comes to attaching timbers, posts, joists and beams Ornamental Wood Ties (OWT) are the ultimate statement of style and strength. OWT hardware produces strong connections as well as enhancement to your project design. With a wide range of connectors and components you can use your imagination to build a project that is uniquely your own. All OWT wood ties are made with ultra heavy gauge steel and hot dipped galvanized after fabrication. The parts are then finished with an exterior grade powder coating for complete protection from corrosion. This makes them suitable for harsh environments and contact with ACQ treated lumber. OWT hardware is commonly used to construct pergolas, arbors, pavilions or decks but with a little imagination you can build an endless number of projects with OWT. Although OWT is designed to perform in outdoor environments it is equally functional for interior projects. OWT has also been engineered to make installation faster and easier with industry leading features and attachment techniques. Unlike conventional wood post bases and brackets OWT does not require extra labor and materials to conceal them, saving time and money.

Answer This Question
A:Â Typically, for this size lumber, you'd use a 2-3/4" Timber Screw - and since there are 6 holes for screws, using all 6 would be ideal. Not knowing what your project is you might want to contact a building professional for requirements beyond normal standards. Thank you!

Answer This Question
A:Â Chris,
Great question - I would say truss design, span and overall aesthetic appeal all could play a part in deciding between OZCO's Truss Base Fan - T (Item #56645) and "T" Tie Plate (Item #56612).

Q:To use the Tee Tie connecting an 8x12 beam to an 8x8 post, would I use the OWT Timber Screw #56627? How many screws?

Answer This Question
A:Â Dan -
I would use the "T" Tie Plate, Item #56612 - 2 per package, on each side and I would use 6 Screws per side and you did identify the correct length, Item #56628 - 1/4" x 3-3/4" OWT Timber Screw, as the plate thickness, 3/16" steel, and then the thickness of the Truss Accent, also 3/16" steel, (either Item #56611 or 51711) along with the Hex Cap Nuts will remove any opportunity for the screws to touch.

Answer This Question
A:Â John,
The ideal use is one on the front of the connection and one on the back as well. Don't forget to complete the look with Accent Plates (56611 or 51711) that match the rest of the hardware (post to beams, post bases, Inside 45's).
Good Luck!
