Within the last year, my husband and I reverted to a healthier diet and lifestyle. The diet and lifestyle include lots of zoodles or spiralizing of other different vegetables. Instead of getting a really fancy spiralizer that takes up a too much space in my kitchen, I decided to get this hand held one and give it a try. I mean for 24 bucks you can’t go wrong. I used to have a hand held one, but it only spiralized my veggies into one size. As I got more advanced with cooking, I wanted different sizes and this brand at home depot offered me that. This spiralizer has three different sizes you can experiment with and mimic different types of pastas. Not to mention it is color -coded for easy identification and use! Features I love about this item are it has a cap that you hold when cutting the veggies so it protects your fingers and I feel like I can look around at my toddler while spiralizing since my hand is safe. I also appreciate that it is both BPA-free and dishwasher safe. There is nothing better then having a product that is safe to use and easy to clean. Again, the fact that is it a hand held item vs a large appliance makes me want to use it more since it is free of hassle. The item seems durable and I look forward to seeing how long it will last me. Altogether for the price and quality I think it is worth it. I highly recommend getting a dish washing brush to use to really scrub the blades because a normal sponge does not always reach in the blade and dishwashing it doesn’t “scrub” everything out. So yes, while it is nice to dishwash it, it needs a pre-scrubbing and a brush would be very handy.

(What's this)
SUMMARY: NICE IDEA. BAD DESIGN. BACKGROUND: We have owned a hand cranked food slicer for over 40 years. It is rather large and cumbersome, so the chance to evaluate a smaller, lighter version was too good an opportunity to pass up. FIT AND FINISH: Typical of OXO products the fit and finish were good. The interlocking design of the base, cutters, and hand guard was nice. The spiralizer comes with spaghetti cut (1/8 in.), fettuccine cut (1/4 in.) and ribbon cut blades. OPERATION: We first tried slicing a cucumber and it worked well. All three cutters produced usable spiral shapes. It was perfect for making overnight pickles for salads or sandwiches. Kids would like the unusual shapes compared to plain slicing. However, it was a little awkward using the hand guard for the final cuts as the prongs in the grip didn’t have enough hold on the cucumber to keep it spinning. Cutting the ends off anything you want to slice is necessary for proper, safe operation. We tried holding the base unit in one hand and twisting the cucumber with the other hand, but it didn’t feel comfortable or safe. We ended up placing the base on the counter and twisting the vegetables. Next, we tried an apple. It was here that the most obvious design error became apparent. The apple we used wasn’t large, more medium-small, but it was too big to fit inside the cutter. We ended up peeling the apple so it would fit. That made curly apple spirals with attached peeling impossible. The apple was too brittle to make continuous spirals with any of the blades, so we ended up with spiral chunks. We won’t do apples again. Last, we tried a potato. We picked a smaller one so we wouldn’t have to peel it. It worked better than the apple, we ended up with some nice small hash brown size spirals, some curly julienne fries, and some potato-chip slices. We didn’t try carrots due to another design issue. The cutters have a center guide which cores out about a 3/8-inch center section. None of our carrots we big enough to make anything with the cutter. The final design error was the base of the unit is too small to hold a whole vegetable. We ended up lifting the base up, removing the cuttings, and putting the base back on the counter. This makes it impossible to cut an entire vegetable into a continuous slice. SUMMARY: Although it worked well for cucumbers we can’t see this is worth the price or the hassle compared to other food slicers on the market in the same price bracket. PROS: CONS: Too small, too cumbersome, too slow.

I was hopeful this would work to spiralize veggies for "pasta", but for me, it was a fail. I have a regular countertop spiralizer that's bulky and awkward to use. However, while this has pretty colors and fits the hand nicely, spiralizing zucchini was very difficult, awful even. I did manage to get spirals, but the plastic grip/holder top kept slipping & it was much more work than using my countertop spiralizer. It took a lot of effort to use. With such poor results, I didn't even try the other two cutting choices. Maybe they might be better, but I couldn't see trying a veggie with a firmer, harder consistency than zucchini. I actually couldn't imagine having the strength to do it. (I'm an active senior citizen, but this thing was a workout!)

I love this thing. It does a really good job at turning veggies into "noodles". It makes food more fun for the kids and with the right veggies can be a good alternative to carb heavy pastas. It really easy to use and plenty safe. It's easy to clean and my favorite thing - easy to store. It's not quite as reversible as some of the large rotisserie-type spliralizers, but it fits in my silverware drawer and takes up zero counter space during use. Definitely worth it

(What's this)
This spiralizer is a huge improvement over my old one (see the black cone-shaped thing in the photos below). I started out with the green blade and my spiralized zucchini turned out perfect! It comes with three blades which all nest together in a nice little package for storage. The green blade makes the smallest spirals, the orange a little bigger and the red one creates shavings like a pencil sharpener. It comes with a hand guard so you can easily get the last few bits of your vegetable down in there without sacrificing your fingers. I was left with about a half-inch nub of zucchini that didn't get spiralized. It does take some wrist twisting but not a lot of effort. The zucchini was gliding through the blades with very little pushing. My old spiralizer would pretty much destroy anything I tried to put through it resulting in a shredded, watery lump. As you can see in the photo below, my spirals turned out nice and uniform and no shredded mess! I almost bought one of those big, bulky hand crank machines but I'm so glad I didn't. This is the perfect little spiralizer. Works great for a great price. It was also really easy to clean. I just ran it under the water and 99% of the zucchini came right out without even trying.

Very easy to use, offers three different thicknesses. Each color is a different thickness, you screw in the one you want to use into the base, then you manually spin your produce through to make 'noodles.' Makes great zucchini noodles, I then top them with olive oil and spices and broil them and the kids love them because they are fun to eat. Easy to clean, and everything goes together for easy storage. Simple but easy to use product.

This item is useful if wanting to change some of your food choices for healthier alternatives or just to change from the normal and add a little bit of fun to your food for your children or family. takes a lot of work to do by hand but very nice outcome. Makes it nice to make some curly fries or curly noodles but does take a lot of hand work and can be hard to use if have arthritis in the hands, I would not recommend this item for anyone whom has hand or wrist issues.

(What's this)
Zucchini noodles are more fun to serve with this handy tool available. You can also make vegetable ribbons with one of the attachments. It comes with three choices for turning out appetizing veggies. It is easy to use. You just select a vegetable and check to see if it needs to be cut smaller to fit the spiralizer, like potatoes. For carrots or zucchini you just cut off the ends, position it over the blade and gently twist it. It's like magic that it turns it into noodles or ribbons. The little booklet comes with a couple of recipes to get you started like zucchini pasta with tomato sauce and barley salad with cucumber and yogurt dill dressing. You spiralize the cucumber ribbons using the red blade. The food comes out completely transformed. There is a food holder to keep your fingers safe while spiralizing. They stack nicely to store them in your cabinet until you're ready to make your next veggie creation.

I decided to try one of these little guys out because I was tired of fighting with my Spiralizer after the handle broke almost immediately upon use. This was super handy to use, cleaned up well and fits nicely in a drawer. It is multi-functional due to the variety of blade sections and they all snap together easily for storage. This spiralized zucchini very easily and quickly with minimal mess, since it could go right in the bowl. Once I've used it a couple more times, the Spiralizer is probably going in the garbage. The design makes it easy to manage and protects skin and knuckles from the blades.
