Another quality Oatey product
I really cannot remember an Oatey branded product that has ever let me down yet after so many years of using their plumbing related products. This putty is easy to use, is non-staining, and maintains a good seal to mitigate leaks. I use it on all plumbing fixtures such as sinks, faucets, drains, strainers, etc. It is easy to work with and the price is very reasonable. I had a new faucet and drain to install in my sink. I should have known that I would need to use some of this by the amount that the previous plumber used on the old faucet drain. This stuff does a great job of keeping the drain from leaking. It is a bit hard or stiff but once you get some and work it in your hand, it molds into nooks and crannies.

I was struggling with how to get everything to fit with PVC since the discharge line from the disposal made a 90 degree turn down. I got this kit and it solved every challenge: straight discharge from disposal, connection fitting to main drain, and flexibility with the joints to adjust easily for perfect alignment. For $17 bucks, it saved the day!!!

I bought this to replace the 3red clear P-trap. In the last year.
I hoped this would not suffer from the same design flaw the clear ones have. I was wrong.
The problem happens at the out-flow of the P-trap. There is no gasket or rubber seal. The joint there isn't a slip over or slip in joint but a tapered female seat and tapered male piece that is supposed to seal tighter when the nut is tightened.
When the nut is tightened (even by hand) there seems to be no "sweet spot" that is tight enough to not leak and yet not split and crack the female portion of the joint.
To forestall the inevitable I wrapped several layers of teflon tape around the male portion to create a thin crush space to seal against the female surface before tightening enough to split it.
A week now and no leaks, but the clear ones lasted a couple of months before leaking also.
I wanted to use old-fashioned metal, but several advised against it. Next time I'll try metal or maybe glued PVC.

Obviously each install will be different, but it would have been helpful if the instructions included more places where it suggested a measurement before continuing. I had to go back after a few places and make adjustments before continuing. Oddly enough, the places that it suggested to check for fit before proceeding where all the places that needed no additional cutting.
