Gripper 3 in. Plastic Mechanical Test Plug

I got this to replace the cheap plastic cap on my ryobi chemical sprayer; They wear out too quickly. This fit the tank just right and let me use the sprayer again without worrying about the fumes or fluid leaking out.

So I just received the Oatey 33402 test plug and it works perfectly to plug the toilet drain. It is tight and I'm confident no sewer gas is escaping.

My neighbor told us about these drain plugs while we have been battling the flooding of the St. Clair River (spring and summer of 2019). We found 2 drains in our 90 year old home that drain into the St. Clair River (one in the garage floor and one in our laundry room floor). Both drains are no longer used, but when the St. Clair river levels began to climb, water was coming up through these drains and into our garage and laundry room. I purchased all the available sizes and brought them home and capped off both drains. These have been a godsent. They have held back the water from coming into the laundry room and bubbling up into the garage.
