Q:I have a very small project that would only require a small amt of elite exterior stain. The 8oz can would be more than enough but it says sample on it. Does the sample have the same protection as the larger sizes? I need uv and rain protection.

Get an extra can just in case.
We used a sprayer to apply the semi-transparent Walnut Olympic Elite to spruce, pine, fir pressure treated panels. We used roughly two cans per side, one coat, and spread evenly with a brush. The wood absorbed it without peeling or flaking and the grain of the wood is still very visible.

Not as transparent as I thought it would be. Can still see the grain but at a distance it appears painted. Goes on easy and covers in two coats.

Good color. Does have some sealant in it, but not enough to weather the sun in Colorado. We have to restain our deck every 2 years.

Great color true brown not red orange or yellow under tint

Excellent, great coverage.
So far so good, my project turned out as expected. I used Ebony solid and chestnut brown semi-transparent. Cost was comparable to other products. We will see if water beads once once it rains. However overall very pleased.

Worst Experience
I purchased this stain last year and did our entire deck before the end of the summer. It is now spring and the deck looks awful. It is peeling off everywhere and needs to be completely redone. I have stained our deck before and it typically lasts 3-4 years without having to redo. I would not recommend this product.

Perfect color
Nice blend of greige which was exactly what I was looking for. More beige than gray; stain goes on well and the smell is tolerable. Received many compliments from neighbors. Picture is Olympic Dark Ash on new yellow pine fencing.
