Rain won't stop your project. Olympic Maximum Stain can be applied to damp wood. Just make sure there are no puddles.
Apply down to 35°F and up to 120°F
Maximum Exterior Stain can be applied in temperatures as low as 35°F to 120°F. Just mist the wood before applying in heat.
Rain-Ready in 8 hours
Forecast for rain? No problem. Olympic Maximum needs only 8 hours to dry before rain.
How much deck stain is needed
The size of your project will determine how much stain you need. Remember, solid stain colors require two coats.
Clean your deck
Sweep debris from deck, then use Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner to wash away dirt and stains caused by mildew.
Prep your deck
Tape off the surfaces you don't want stained. Avoid staining wood in direct sunlight to avoid uneven drying.
Stain application
For even coverage, apply the stain to one board at a time. For best results, backbrush into the wood surface.
Clear Stain
Clear finish allows your wood to weather and gray naturally. Least Protection, Most Wood Grain.
Transparent/Toner
Slight hint of stain color that highlights the wood grain. Less protection, More Wood Grain.
Semi-Transparent

Q:Put two coats of this solid sealant. A week later got some light rain and I noticed water does not beads up on the deck. Do I need to put a clear waterproof sealant over this solid paint sealant so water beads up? Or is this normal.

The product itself is nice, but the colors DO NOT MATCH what you see in the photos. I ordered the “Eiffel tower” color and it was so far off form the photo I couldn’t believe it. If you are willing to try multiple different colors before you find the right one, then the product is good.

Color is misleading
I purchased Amsterdam color which looked like a grayish teal blue on here but I went to the store and had it made and it’s VERY blue lol. I’m using it on my old deck that I can’t afford to replace. The deck hasn’t had anything on it in like 10 years according to old listing photos. With that said… it’s covering REALLY well even considering the wood being so dry and ready to absorb anything. I am working on the first coat so I’ll show that for now in photos.

Great color and coverage
Olympic solid Cape Cod covered my four year old unpainted deck pretty good with one coat. There are a few places that may need another coat but I'm going to give it a few days and see how it holds up to Hurricane Ida before I do. The color is as shown. Very happy with the color.

The color was MUCH redder than advertised on the Olympic website (and as shown in this email invitation to fill out survey). Quite disappointing. Other than that, the coverage on my deck was good.
