Can I re-apply Rescue-it to existing Rescue-it I applied 3 years ago????

Asked by Janis May 18, 2019
1
Answer

Hi Janis. Rescue-It can be reapplied over clean surfaces that are not peeling. We recommend using a cleaning product to ensure the surface is free of contaminants. Once dry, apply 1 coat to the surface. If any area is peeling, be sure to sand that area down before applying.

Will his paint mold in partly shady areas?

Asked by Lloyd February 16, 2019

Answer

Hi there, great question. A properly prepared surface entails clean, bare wood free of dirt, mold, mildew, etc. When you apply stain, you want the stain to soak into the wood as best as possible, so ensuring your surface is prepared is critical for proper adhesion. If you were to apply stain to a moldy deck, for example, the stain may end up peeling off or not lasting as long. Here are video tutorials on prep and using the product: www.olympic.com/inspiration/articles/rescue-it-max-tutorials/how-to-use-rescue-it-max-on-wood

can you use this on already painted surface

This product is exceptional. We use this on the concrete decking around our pool with a little added grit. The paint is durable and wears well. The best concrete paint we have ever used.

Excellent coverage, thickness, texture. This was a recoating of Rescue-It that I used on my deck about four years ago which was actually still in great shape. (The color was wrong for four years - didn't match the railings - long story.) So, I figured I'd use the same product. Using the Olympic "Cedar" color, I was able to match the railings color which is a "Timber" tint of Thompson's Water Seal. The only "problem" was that the forecast called for 0% of precip for the day and the sky was clear at 9AM. So, I applied the product, nice and thick beteeen 10AM and Noon. It rained from 5PM until dark. (Glad this isn't a review of AccuWeather!) The moisture caused the surface to develop small air bubbles, all over. They went away, but I fear the adherence might fail at some future point.

Not the greatest
Peels very easily, painted our decks and within 2 months it was already peeling. Now it is spring went out looked at decks and probably 5-7 big areas tht peeled away. And this is not cheap.
