About This Product

The Dwarf Hinoki Cypress is a beautiful medium-sized evergreen shrub that boasts dark green fan-shaped foliage, a narrow columnar form and extraordinarily little maintenance required beyond the occasional watering through spring and summer. The gracefully spreading limbs gently unfold to attain a unique aquatic shape reminiscent of coral. Widely planted in traditional Japanese gardens, this slender conifer has a strong visual appeal to offer without taking up too much valuable landscape space. Hinoki Cypresses require very little in the way of maintenance as they are virtually unsusceptible to diseases and pests. The Dwarf Hinoki Cypress lives most comfortably in USDA Cold Hardiness Zones 4 to 9 and reaches a mature height of 10 ft. with a spread of 4 ft.

        False advertisement. Do not buy.
The description of this plant is a lie. This is not what it is advertised as. They sent a juniper. I will be returning. False advertisement.

The plant was about 1/8 the size of the plant in the photo shown. I was planning to return it because of how small and pethetic the plant was, but could not find the same species of plant at my local nurseries so I decided to plant it and maybe in 5 years it will look like the photo on the website.

This is what I paid $40 for???
I ordered what I thought would be a beautiful addition to my bonsai collection. When I opened the box, I was horrified. The cypress did not resemble the advertising photo in any way. The cypress had been exposed to extremely cold temperatures, which burned the foliage.

              Hinoki Cypress
The cypress was much smaller than what I expected. The tips are brown and I hope it will green out in a short while. The dark green color and foliage really attracted me to this plant. The packing was great - the plant was not damaged at all. Also, it arrived much sooner than I expected - 5 days earlier than what was stated in the receipt/purchase order. I would purchase from this vendor again.

                Brown plant delivered quickly
This is a very small brown plant, looks pretty near death. No one would ever select this plant in the store and buy it. I'll accept this challenge to my green thumb, but overall they sent me a lemon for sure.

                  Healthy shrub and well packaged!
I am fairly new to buying plants online and I am still apprehensive. But I was so taken by the graceful beauty of the dwarf Hinoki Cypress. I read more about them online and decided it would be a great addition to my landscape. It arrived 2 days eary. It took awhile to open it up becvause it was so well packaged. But the box was deceiving. The shrub was MUCH smaller than I expected. The rootball was larger than the actual shrub! (actually a good thing.) I read several times that deer like to snack on these, so at least for this firs tseason, I am opting for a container on my open front porch. My Cypress is healthy and thriving!

Well rooted and packaged small Dwarf Hinoki
Having shopped many garden centers for this Dwarf Hinoki Cypress, I couldn't find anything for less than $60. I decided to take a chance ordering online because the HD store doesn't carry this. Reviews here did state how small it looked on arrival, so I was prepared. Photos below. It was well packaged and watered. Since the roots look very good and there were no broken branches, I feel I got my money's worth. It would have gotten five stars if it was a fuller shrub. In its first winter in zone 5b, I will wrap it in burlap to survive winds.

                      Disappointed with this delivery
The plant is dying and doesn't look anything like the plant pictured.

                        It’s very healthy but small
It’s very healthy but small, I would suggest buy from in store plants instead.
