Product Details

Blenheim are considered the richest, best flavored apricots for fresh eating and cooking by top chefs all over the world. They're known for having the perfect balance of sugar, tartness, and acidity, which combine for a classic and savory apricot flavor. The Blenheim tree is quite versatile because it blossoms later than other apricots, allowing for a wider growing range. Another noteworthy characteristic is that the Blenheim tree is self-pollinating. This and its versatile growing range make Blenheim an excellent choice for home orchards across the country. At 1 point in history, Blenheim apricots were almost entirely grown in the courtyards of European royalty. This was the apricot of choice among the wealthiest individuals in that time. The Blenheim tree was imported, where its fame and demand spread like wildfire. Unfortunately, production of this former #1 apricot has almost entirely come to a halt due to cheaper, lesser quality fruit being imported to take its place. Blenheim apricots are arguably the most flavorful and the homegrown fruit is quite incomparable to the lesser quality apricots available in grocery stores today. Blenheim is the most desirable apricot tree for home orchards today due to its amazing flavor, adaptability, rich history, and self-pollination.
  • Shipped at a height between 3 ft. and 4 ft.
  • Blenheim is regarded as the richest and most well-flavored apricot grown today
  • Blooms late to avoid frosts, making Blenheim quite adaptable
  • Blenheim is self-pollinating
  • Rich in history and was first cultivated only by European royalty
  • Was the top apricot until cheaper, lesser quality fruit began to be imported recently

      Answer This Question

A:  Its label shows only dwarf, I would have to assume it is a seni-dwarf. Also a genetic dwarf tree is usually a lot more expensive than what I paid.

Q:I just ordered for Dwarf Blenheim Apricot Tree and this was delivered today January 4th. My question is, if it is best to directly plant it now to the ground here in Southern California during this winter season rather than wait another month or so. Tks.

A:  Dear Zuki, If you live in Southern California I would assume you have very few if any hard freezes during the Winter. If that is the case I would recommend that the Apricot tree be planted now. Even though it is Winter you will have many days of warm weather where the root system will get established and be ready for beautiful growth in the Spring. Best Wishes!

A:  I planted my tree not long after I got it in November. As long as frost isn’t in the forecast, I would say plant it. Mine has grown quite a lot and would like to see some fruit maybe this year!

A:  Hello - Since I previously purchased a DBA I was asked to answer your question. However, I live in upstate New York; quite a different environment from Southern California. Nevertheless, having planted hundreds of trees and looking at the temperature statistics in your area, I would highly recommend you plant your new tree right away. And as long as temperatures are above 40 and you do not have any rain, I would water your tree at least once a week for the first couple of months. Also consider whether or not you should put some kind of protective barrier around your new tree; where I live if you do not put a protective wire or plastic cage around your new trees the deer or some other critter will damage them before they have a chance to grow large enough to be safe from most critters. The DBA provides some very tasty fruit if you take good care of it, so you have some delicious fruit to look forward to. Around here it is 12 degrees this morning, with lots of snow on the ground. Good luck with your new tree and Happy New Year! Al :-)

                Doing Great
I was a bit concerned about planting it during winter time here in South California. But to my surprise, there was no issue. It is thriving . It is taller than me now. I am so happy about it. (picture taken this July 12, 2022). Hoping that it will bear sweet fruits soon and that would an additional review.

good for pots in alkaline areas.
Apricots are not sold in my area due to our alkaline soil. I bought four of these dwarf treas to grow in containers and be able to control the soil pH. They arrived in about a week to central Texas and they were well wrapped and packaged. I soaked them right away for a few house, but I wasn't ready to pot them up for a few days. I bought 13" self watering plastic pots and made a soil mix or native organic potting soil, acid amendment, Bio Tone and perlite. I have them set on the east side of my house, which is the coldest and I'll be able to move them around as the season go's on. I

                      Well packaged. Heathy little tree.
Arrived well packed and still damp. Looks healthy with leaf still evident. We have had fruit success with our other dwarf trees and I can't wait to see this apricot tree thrive. Will update spring of 2022.

                        Excellent healthy tree!
I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Everything from delivery, packaging and plant health on arrival was great. I received the tree later in January and planted it on a warm day in February. It took off quickly as it was there since a year before. Produced strong tall multiple shoots and is still growing. This is the first year for the tree, so I can’t comment on fruits, yet:). I certainly will buy from this seller again!

I'm so happy with online orchards dwarf apricot tree. It came in a timely manner and was packaged right for a tree. There was still moisture in packing and easy to plant. It was already budding and the tree looked very healthy.
