Highly recommend!
We are absolutely thrilled to have this apple tree now planted in our yard. It came with a brochure that explained everything you need to plant either in the ground or a container. Super easy and affordable. We cannot wait to start seeing it grow!

    My Experience
I ordered 2 apple trees on 2nd June, 2021 and received a package with both trees on 10th June. Make sure to keep the box so you can use it if something wrong with the tree. I planted them immediately by following instructions. After about 2-3 weeks, I saw 3-4 branches come out from on of the tree. Nothing came out of 2nd tree after a month. I called HomeDepot customer service today and had a very good experience. They can't exchange Online order so started return process free of change. I have been told that UPS will pick up the boxed tree tomorrow. I use the same box to pack dead tree. Meanwhile I ordered a new apple tree. I am hoping this new one will not die. Also I am hoping to these trees will survive New England winter weather.

      Stands by their product!
I bought two dwarf apple trees from Home Depot, but they delivered them right before a drought afflicted this area. (You cannot anticipate these, being a regular guy with no special meterological equipment.) Both died, but when I contacted Home Depot about 6 months after receving them, they refunded my money. So I bought another one to cross-polinate my other apple tree. When that tree arrived I soaked the roots and planted it. But, wouldn't you know it, we have a hard freeze. In SE Arizona! Well, Home Depot refunded my money, again, and I ordered another Gala apple tree. I received it, and immediately placed it in a bucket of water to soak for a few days until I could plant it. The root ball did not have many roots showing, like soem bare root trees I have ordered, but after a week in the soil, getting about 4 gallons a day, it has a fresh green leaf growing! Now I can look forward to enjoying many apples from my trees in a few years! One of the MAIN reason I ordered from Home Depot is that they gaurantee their plants and trees for one year from purchase. They made good on their promise! Thanks, Home Depot and Online Orchards!

DO NOT BUY. I purchased 2 bare root apple trees and my wife also purchased 2 bare root apple trees for me from Home Depot. I planted them in late spring of 2020. I spaced the trees properly, prepared the soil, and watered them faithfully. They did not take root, or produce any new growth during the 2020 season. I left them in the ground and hoped that during spring 2021 there would be new growth, but none of the 4 trees had any growth above the graft root. I then called Home Depot, spent an hour on the phone with a number of people and they did NOT stand by the trees they delivered. They would not replace the dead trees they delivered.

          Bare Root Fruit Tree_Branchless
I ordered a bare root dwarf gala fruit tree, the images on the website shows bare root with many branches. The one I got was literally barely rooted and one main branch, very similar to the bare root live gala fruit tree. They really need better quality control and also someone who is knowledgeable in that department when shipping the products out to the customer. It's just annoying that you have to go through all this just to get the correct one you want. And....fingers crossed if the one you want is still available by the time you know the one you received is incorrect.

              Very nice bare root tree
My dwarf Gala apple tree arrived yesterday and was planted today. I was very impressed with the size of the tree as I'd expected to receive 18" twigs with no leaves. Instead, the tree was 36" tall from the top of its container, with bunches of leaves already formed (see photo). The roots were packaged in shavings and a plastic container, and then thoroughly wrapped in plastic to preserve moisture. The shipping box was 4' x 4" x 4" which was perfectly sized for the plant and protected it well. The root system was a surprise and a bit of a disappointment. The root were pretty minimal and not at all as advertised. However, I remain optimistic as the rest of the plant looks so good. Two days after planting, the tree looks great. A couple of the leaves wilted and likely won't recover but that's pretty minor and the rest look good.

Despite being planted on day it was received, the tree is dead over a month later despite sun, hydration, and good dirt in the late spring/early summer. I wish I could get a refund.

This Gala was one of 5 trees that I purchased through Home Depot. It is doing very well.I also had 2 Braeburn, and 2 Honeycrisp in this order. One of the Braeburns broke dormancy almost immediately, the other took almost 4 weeks (in south Texas). One of the Honeycrisps is just now breaking after 4 weeks, but the other is not going to break. The rootstock has vegetative growth, but the scion epidermal layer is puckered and the buds are dehydrated.

I ordered two roots. They were delivered approximately one week apart. Each package had no item description in the box or on the root. One root began to sprout and grow as advertised. The other (2nd delivered) did not. I bought two roots to ensure fruiting. I have emailed Online Orchards twice and included a photo of the root that has not begun to grow, asking them which of the roots I need replaced. The pic shows colored marks on the root so only Online Orchards can tell me the name of the root to replace. Online Orchard does not practice simple common courtesy or customer service.
