A: By pulling them all the way apart. The blade will open
A: rooster, open the cutters by unhooking the latch at the base of the tool.
A: Use 'liquid wrench' on pivot points, this is a penetrating oil. let oil soak for 1 day. Then carefully loosen lower single nut on lower blade. These are lock nuts so you don't have to remove them just loosen them. You should be able to then open the jaws unjamming the blade. Tighten nut but do NOT over-tighten. It's difficult without actually seeing the tool to correct your problem.
A: sounds like you rode it hard and put it up wet...an initial squirt of penetrating fluid should do the trick...since your talking about corroded aluminum tightly jammed against a chrome plated blade that is probably starting to delaminate, leave the unit over night then clean with a dash of mineral spirits in the morning...try to dry all penetrating and cleaning oils off before using. This should help recondition the movement...after use always put up clean and dry...for future reference-a drop of plain oil to the movement points wouldn't hurt and always clean and make dry before using.
