What is the outside diameter of the schedule 40 pvc riser?
Can I cut this shorter and use a regular 1/2 white pvc coupler to glue back together? I already have 30 installed and prefer not to dig up to replace with shorter.
Hello Carl. Thank you for shopping the Home Depot. According to Customer Service, there is no information stating you cannot do this. The grey riser may be a little stiffer and may be harder to cut. Rick_HD_ OC
I’m confused about pipe (FPT) fittings connecting to 3/4” PVC . What size threaded riser will fit into 3/4” PVC fitting?
You need 3/4" diameter pipe with MPT threads, not FIP threads. Also several wraps of Teflon tape would be good to put on the threads.
When using a 1/2 in. riser connecting to 3/4in. PVC the installer must use a 3/4X3/4X1/2in. fitting such as one distributed by Conbraco Industries Matthews, NC, Model ABTFT343412 (made in China, of course).
What is the threading style on these? Also, what is the outer diameter?
Tapered pipe thread. 1/2" inside diameter pipe. Approximately 3/4" outer diameter.
These are 1/2" male pipe threaded connections.
