Why can't you use for hot water or appliances? My wall valves broke for washer machine and using these behind them.

Asked by: Outlaw78
I don't know that this would replace your wall valve, but you can use it on a washing machine's hot water valve. I've had mine installed on both the hot and cold machine water valves as a cut-off.

After about a year of using it, both of them started to leak. One of them leaked really bad. It turns out, the brass near the knob cracked on both! On one of them, the end that goes into the main shut off, broke when removing it as shown in the photo. The metal thickness is subpar and the engineering is bad. They should have done at least a 1 year test on it in an area with seasonal weather.

Have to say that this part is only one Shut- Off valve available at home depot. With my experience I had to use several during the year because the handle is braking or loosing the screw holding it - what a bad design. Unfortunately all places are caring it and there is no substitution, should not cost over $7 with the tax...
