Purchased the Orbit Outdoor Timer Box to install a RainMachine sprinkler controller outside. The box worked perfect with the GFI outlet. I did have to do some modifications to make fit but worked perfectly.

I'm using it for something other than it's intended purpose...
I'm using it for something other than it's intended purpose but it does a good job of keeping things dry. This is the second one I've bought to house electronic equipment outdoors and both have performed as expected.

Orbit 57095
I needed to replace my old irrigation controller. I had to purchase this outdoor timer box. Although not the boxes fault, my controller would not align with any mounting holes, drilled new ones without issue. The power in 3/4 " conduit was bigger than the boxes hole, filed it out to make it fit. Also the 3/4" pipe for holding the controller wires had to be modified to fit. Not a big problem. Mounting to the wall, with 4 screws inserts, box had holes, but after reading the instructions, you are supposed to only use 3 ??. Got the electrical in, connected to the GFCI plug and tried to mount it, only to discover that the mounting holes are different offset so that it only goes in one way?? This means the socket orientation is opposite of normal install, ground on bottom. The power supply for my controller had to use the upper set of contacts because of this and the power leads just had minimum clearance to the bottom of the case. The locking mechanism has to be installed before you mount it to the wall, there is no clearance to do it afterwards. I had to remove the box mounting screws to do this and then remount it. As a homeowner, I hopefully only have to do this once, experienced installers probably leaned the lesson may installs ago.

Needed to move timer
Needed to move my timer to a more convenient position which was outside. This box was perfect. My Toro timer fit the mounting template inside the box. I was able to mount it on the side of my shed (see pictures). Having the outlet in it made it convenient and gave me another power outlet on that side of my back yard. Was able to run power and valve wires though back of box. Was also able to install a rain sensor with this installation.

Exactly What I Needed
Purchased this enclosure to house my deck stereo setup. This houses a small stereo amp, Apple Airport Express, and remote switch (Globe Electric 2-Outlet Wireless Outdoor Remote Control - Model # 78901 Internet # 205711773 - Home Depot). Allows me to keep the deck equipment separate from the house stereo, but with Airplay I can still play the same music inside and on deck simultaneously or play independently. I mounted on the side of my deck as access isn't necessary (power controlled by the remote fob and volume can be controlled by iPhone/iPad/iTunes). While not concerned about theft, as it's mounted in an inconspicuous location, the lock on it is nice. We've had many storms this spring and when I've checked all equipment is still dry. The amp was only $20-ish on Amzn so not to worried if doesn't hold up for years (but I hope it does).

Keeps your outdoor wiriing dry
I used this box for my outdoor 12-volt lighting switch box and it works great. It comes with a built in plug and two open holes for wires. I removed the plug and plastic insert so I could fit my switches inside.
You can seal the holes with plastic plugs and tape to seal out most of the water.

I buy 2-3 of these boxes every month to install...
I buy 2-3 of these boxes every month to install dog fence transmitters outdoors with a GFI inside the box. Unfortunately, 7 of my last 12 have had bad GFIs inside, which I have had to replace before they're usable. This adds another $5 to the cost and is a stupid hassle. Why do so many of these boxes contain faulty parts? Sadly, this Orbit enclosure is the only unit of its type that I can find. I'll source a box and build my own soon, and market them to my 70 dealers so we can all stop buying what the maker must know are faulty units.
