I need to add a strong lock or deadbolt to the doors for security. Would that be possible with these doors? Will it be easy to break into?
You can certainly add a deadbolt to the unit however the door is made of Western Red Cedar, like the rest of the unit and as a result we could not say it is truly secure against all outcomes.
Can I khow the roof pitch?
Is this shed considered bear-proof?
We consider our product to be very strong and durable. If you did wish to reinforce the hardware that would be a personal choice.
are the screws stainless steel? - otherwise will rust over time
The majority of screws used in the kit are zinc coated robertson screws, there are some framing screws used and some black headed screws. All screw lengths, types and quantity are provided in the manual, you are welcome to purchase alternate screws that would work better for you.
I live in SE Florida. As required by code, I would tie the shed down by putting one anchor at each corner against the base. What is the wind resistance of the rest d the structure?
The manufacturer does not have this unit spec'd out for windrating. We do recommend a tie down kit from the ground through the floor , up the wall and down the other wall.
Can the shed be painted white?
Western Red Cedar can be painted. Depending on the manufacturer's paint instructions, you may have to use a primer. Some paints include a primer. Best would be to visit the local paint store or ask the paint department at Home Depot to see what paint manufacturer's would be best for Western Red Cedar.
Hello :) Can this shed be modified with no pitch roof? We have a 1970?s post and beam home and the eves hang low. We?re hoping to slide it under the eves but only a 7? clearance and this particular model is 8?. What?s the height before the pitch? Thanks
The manufacturer does not recommed changing the pitch of the roof. The manufacture offers a roof which slopes towards the back, which may fit?
Is it possible to cut out an opening in the back for access to gas/electric meters? We can only put this on the side of our house and the meters are behind it.
A qualified carpenter should be able to frame and cut out the wall. Please note there could be potential for critters to enter and it would have to be shielded properly.
