  • Dimensions: 1-1/2 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.
  • Insulation Application: exterior sheathing and interior basement walls
  • Designed to resist moisture and helps to block mildew
  • Rigid foam insulation has a higher R-value than wood fiber, plywood or 1/2 in. gypsum board products

  • FOAMULAR 150 and 250 are available in various thicknesses and R-values, the difference is the compressive strength. FOAMULAR 150 has a compressive strength of 15 psi and FOAMULAR 250 is 25 psi
  • FOAMULAR is not rated for STC (sound transmission) and does not have any soundproofing properties. Owens Corning fiberglass batts and rolls are great options for acoustic applications.
  • When using FOAMULAR or any low perm insulation, always verify the moisture vapor flow and dew point characteristics of the wall system. Please check your local building codes for vapor retarder/barrier information.
  • If being used in an interior construction application, painting the FOAMULAR is not recommended as FOAMULAR cannot be left exposed and will need to be covered by a 15 minute thermal barrier such as drywall.
  • If being used for crafts, acrylic or latex based paints can be used with FOAMULAR products.
  • If you're looking to insulate your garage door, Owens Corning Garage Door Insulation Kit is an easy, fast and affordable way to keep your garage warm in winter and cool in the summer.
  • If you're looking to ventilate your attic rafters, Owens Corning Raft-R-Mate is a XPS foam vent designed to assure unrestricted airflow from the soffit to the ridge vent.
  • FOAMULAR is available in two edge configurations:
  • Square Edge - designed to fit flush next to adjoining boards
  • Scored Square Edge - comes with 3 factory scores, so that you can take a 4' sheet, break it in two and have two, 2' wide sheets (middle score), or you can break it into three 16" wide pieces by snapping at the left and right score.

Q:can you install a 3/4" air gap between the Tyvek house wrap and the rigid foam insulation board being installed on the outside of an existing stud wall above grade?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Rick, Yes, you could add furring strips to provide an air gap between the housewrap and Foamular sheathing. But we normally see and recommend adding the furring strips over the Foamular to provide drainage between the Foamular and the cladding. This also provides a nail base (the furring strips) that the cladding can be attached to (shorter fasteners and easier hit the furring strips). The housewrap can be placed in front of or behind the Foamular. All flashing must be on the same plane as the housewrap (WRB). Thank you for your inquiry!

Insulated my 30x40 pole barn garage with this. None of the snap off sizes fit what I needed but it was easy to cut. I can tell a big difference in the temperature inside.

I used this to line my basement concrete walls before framing and finishing. I used this type because of its moisture barrier properties. I haven't finished the framing yet or tried a temperature comparison or anything like that, but I would recommend this for general insulation. It cuts and shapes easily and seems to create a good solid barrier. I used foil tape to block the seams which also helps seal it as a barrier. I have used it around a few windows that seemed to be leaking air and this insulation seems to have helped quite a bit. For general insulation, especially where a full barrier is needed and makes sense for your application, I would definitely recommend. I used some tables to hold the insulation tight against the wall while the liquid nails behind it dried.
