Don’t know finches usually eat seeds.
I have had this for 2 years now. In the spring the leaves emerge red then turn yellow. They appear to stay yellow throughout the season.
No
I am zone 8b, between Seattle and Tacoma. It is doing great. It is not in full sun. It is in its second year and is over 4 feet tall.

Hi fannyann, The Lemony Lace Elderberry requires at least four or more direct hours of sunlight per day. Please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. We will be happy to give you growing tips and advice for your plant's care. Best regards, Fallon
Hi Utahgirl, you can prune this shrub back every year. It actually does benefit from some hard pruning as a young plant to help develop a nice and full habit. However, we do recommend trimming older plants after flowering. Pruning in the spring will reduce the flower production. If you have any additional questions, feel free to give us a call at (734) 654-7485. Thanks! Hailee
Hi Dimitri, The USDA Department of Agriculture states that only the blue or purple berries of Elderberry are edible, however, all other parts of the Elderberry including the red berries of other species are toxic and should not be gathered (Lemony Lace has red berries). The active alkaloids in elderberry plants are hydrocyanic acid and sambucine. Both alkaloids will cause nausea so care should be observed with this plant. Please consult a reliable source on how to safely make Elderberry syrup. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon
Dear citausnchild, Thank you for asking about our Lemony Lace™ Sambucus. The red fall fruit makes it a good addition to wildlife gardens, however, I would suggest reviewing the list of poisonous plants made available by the ASPCA on their website as a good point of reference to answer your question. Plant was packaged very well in a 1 gallon pot.
