Are hills good place to plant these?

I have a hill that doesn't want anything to live on it. I was thinking of digging up some of the dirt and putting new soil down. I have seen these plants before and really like the looks of them. The hill faces mainly to the southwest and gets afternoon sun . Do you recommend these plants for covering a hill? Thanks!
