      Answer This Question

Hi Garden Friend Thanks for asking! Lo & Behold® 'Ruby Chip' butterfly bush thrives in a soil pH that is slightly acidic to neutral, generally between 6.0 and 7.0. While adaptable, they require well-drained soil, and while they can tolerate a pH up to 8.0, keeping it slightly acidic to neutral ensures the best performance and nutrient availability. I think I live in Zone 7 (Pigeon Forge, TN. So if I am understanding correctly I would not be able to plant this plant until spring, early summer, is that correct? My contractor says that it is best to plant any new plants at the time landscaping is done

          Answer This Question

Hi Charlie Thanks for asking! Generally we recommend getting new shrubs in the ground 6 weeks before the ground freezes in the winter. If you are already past you first hard frost, spring would be the next best time to plant. Just be sure you are past the danger of frost when planting in spring. Answer This Question

Hello, thank you for asking. We are happy to help! Our Butterfly bush is actually the only shrub we do not recommend planting in the fall as it usually is not established enough by the time winter arrives. We recommend planting in the spring or summer to give it ample time to establish its root system. It is susceptible to root rot in the winter. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 734-654-7485. Kind Regards, Allie

Do I need to dead head the flowers

              Answer This Question

Hi Darlene ~ Great question! Lo & Behold® 'Ruby Chip' Butterfly Bush (Buddleia) does not require deadheading to keep the plant blooming all summer. Top reasons to grow Lo & Behold Ruby Chip butterfly bush:- Space-saving dwarf habit fits anywhere- Brightly colored flowers all summer- Sun-loving and heat tolerant. Prune in spring, after the new growth emerges. The warmer your climate, the more you should cut back your butterfly bush each spring. Left unpruned, large butterfly bushes can become “second story” plants: their flowers form way up at the top so you can’t enjoy them unless you have a second-story window. As always, please feel free to reach out to us at any time with any questions or concerns. You can email us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com or chat with us online! We are happy to help! ~ Cori

                Answer This Question

Hello, Thank you for asking. We are happy to help! No, our plants are noninvasive. Some are seedless and others have seeds that are not viable. Proven Winners has bred the invasiveness out of the plants so that it has only the good qualities and none of the bad. I hope this helps! September 10th delivery, looks good!
My Lo and Behold "Ruby Chip" butterfly bush arrived today, and it looks good. I pulled the plastic pouch down and set the plant aside while I cleared a spot to plant it, and when I came back there were already bees checking it out. Fed Ex handling was a bit rough, judging by the condition of the box. I was relieved the plant wasn't broken.

Nice compact butterfly bushes that are still growing for me. I planted them 6 weeks ago and kept them watered. They are less than 1/4 the size I expect them to be now but one is beginning to flower. They are in full sun. They arrived in good condition.
