About This Product

The Panasonic NN-SC73LS microwave with Inverter Technology uses 1200-Watt of cooking power to cook, defrost, reheat and more. Unique Inverter Technology which, unlike traditional microwaves that rely on pulse-on, pulse-off power at lower temperatures, delivers a constant stream of cooking power at every temperature for more evenly cooked meals - edges to centers - every time. With the touch of the Genius Sensor cooking button, this microwave takes guesswork out of creating a great meal by automatically setting power levels and adjusting cooking or defrosting time for added time-saving convenience. The sensor measures the amount of steam produced during cooking and signals the microprocessor to calculate the remaining cooking time at the appropriate power level. A selection of 10-auto cook options enable you to quickly prepare your favorite foods, such as pizza, pasta, soup, casserole and other dishes, plus enjoy a dedicated popcorn button, keep warm function and more. Spacious 1.6 cu. ft. interior includes 13.6 in. glass turntable and fits a large baking dish. The stainless steel exterior design can rest on any open surface in the kitchen and can be easily moved.

Q:Can I turn off beep when complete?
    by|May 27, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi! Thank you for your question. The beep sound cannot be turned off. When a pad is pressed correctly, a beep will be heard. If a pad is pressed and no beep is heard, the unit has not, or cannot, accept the instruction. The oven will beep twice between programmed stages. At the end of any complete program, the oven will also beep 5 times. When the preheating cycle is complete, the oven will beep 3 times. Hope this helps! -C

A:  Hi, Nadine! We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your microwave not turning on. Please check the display to see if the child lock is enabled; a key symbol will appear on the display if it is. Response
Panasonic responded to my review with a request to contact them via chat. Then they make the chat so difficult that you can’t get the information want. Time you out while you’re looking for what they ask for, and then will not respond again. As far as I’m concerned, the response is just for show they’re not the least bit concerned about the situation.

              Broke in 2 month
I bought this microwave on November 8 2023. It stopped heating the food on January 17th 2024. I am lucky that Home Depot takes back products for 90 days. The microwave is absolutely beautiful. It is so quiet I just can’t get another one. I don’t trust it. I never had a microwave break before. It looks very difficult to return to the manufacturer since at first I couldn’t find my receipt. I would not recommend this product.

Hi, Melanie! Thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to the standards. If the microwave has stopped heating food, we would recommend making sure that it is properly plugged into a functional power outlet, please test the outlet with another device to ensure it is providing power. Also, check for error codes, as our microwaves display error codes when an issue occurs. If you notice any, please reach out to our Support Team through Live Chat on the Panasonic Website's Contact Us option to see how we can help you in this situation. You may do so by clicking on the widget located at the bottom right of your screen during our operating hours from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm EST. -C Panasonic

A great value compared to others available.
The Panasonic NN-SC73LS microwave with Inverter Technology uses 1200-Watts of power to cook meals quickly compared to other microwaves I have used in the past. The touch of the Genius Sensor cooking button seems to work correctly every time, choosing the proper cook time. A dedicated popcorn button is another frequently used available feature on the Panasonic NN-SC73LS. Also, the bright white LED display is very easy to read and always displays the clock function when not in use cooking. Overall, it's spacious and cooks quickly giving the biggest bang for the buck as a replacement microwave. So far after a few months of use in a business environment, it's used daily and seems to be well accepted by all employees...I would buy again!

                Dead after 12-13 months
E05 error code just about a year after we got it (Nov 27 2021). Their website says I have to contact a service center that’s 3.5 hours away, with no other information. It worked just as you would expect any microwave to. The “inverter” technology offered zero improvement versus our old Whirlpool model that broke. The interior in dark colored so it’s hard to see stuff cooking…but at least it looked cleaner longer. The touch buttons do not respond to touch well. 30sec button doesn’t start it.

                  Great Features, Horrible Quality
I bought this microwave oven in early June due to its size and features. The features worked for 4 months. Popcorn cooked perfectly. Food and beverages heated up very quickly. Operation wasn't very intuitive, but I figured it out. Quality is lacking, though. After 3 days, there was an unexplained chip in the door. After a week, the plastic over the controls began pealing. 4 months later, it didn't heat nearly as well as it did at first. Operation is noisy & buttons don't always work. Don't buy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback with us! Kindly take note that there is a protective plastic film or membrane over the microwave keypad. The control panel is covered with a removable protective film to prevent scratches during shipping. Small bubbles may appear under this film, if this is the case, remove the protective film by applying masking or clear tape to an exposed corner and pull gently. If you are experiencing functionality issues with your unit, please reach out to us directly: https://shop.panasonic.com/contactus . -M Panasonic

                    You Can't See What's Cookin'
Panasonic NN-SC73LS microwave. The problem is the interior light. It seems to be pretty bright when looking directly at it, but only the front-right quarter of the oven is lit well enough to see what's going on inside the oven while it's operating. When I could not see whether or not the cheese was starting to bubble on a burrito I was warming up, I decided that this was not a microwave for me. Image 1 is brighter than to the naked eye. Image 2, might be a little darker. It's going back. : - (

Large and powerful with “smart” features that are probably most useful if you tend to cook big casseroles
Large and powerful with “smart” features that are probably most useful if you tend to cook big casseroles or want to be able to defrost and then cook high volume/density dishes like lasagna without needing to monitor the process. “Genius Sensor” refers to this Panasonic microwave’s ability to determine the perfect cooking time based on steam escaping from a covered plate of food. We had better results with larger dishes, such as casseroles. It has trouble with smaller items like single-serve frozen meals. Even setting the time manually takes some experimentation. A frozen burrito that took 2 minutes (1 per side) in our smaller microwave actually exploded in the Panasonic after just 1 minute at 80% power! The “sensor cook” did work (sort of) with a 14 oz frozen pizza. Per the user manual for the microwave, we covered the pizza with a glass pie plate (set at a slight angle so as to allow steam to escape), chose the “Pizza” setting and let it go. About 5 minutes later it detected steam and finished cooking about 2 minutes later. The pizza was thoroughly cooked and hot, but the texture was terrible -- goopy in the middle and too tough to chew around the edges. To be fair, the pizza’s instructions recommended a 425 degree oven. I’m not sure frozen pizzas are well suited to any microwave. If you’re wondering…the “Inverter” technology means that 50% power is really 50% power, not 100% power that cycles off and on the way a conventional microwave does. That said, we couldn’t tell the difference in results vs our old non-inverter microwave. Pros: Large, good looking and powerful. Expect to experiment with shorter cook times and lower power, especially if you’re moving up from a lower power microwave (or you may risk burning your dinner). Gripes: The interior light could be brighter, especially since the interior is a dark color. Ideally the “Quick 30” feature would be a one-button operation, but it requires pushing the “Start button” as well. Adjusting the power level is not intuitive. You have to repeatedly push the “Power Level” button to cycle through the choices (from 10 down to 1) rather than pressing "Power" and a value (say, "8"). This gets pretty annoying if you regularly use a lower power level. Peeling off the protective film from the control panel is tricky - see pic. (Granted, you only have to do this once.) The bright white “Inverter” label on the lower left of the door (see pic) cannot be removed, and it really detracts from the otherwise sleek modern appearance of the unit. Finally, we were not happy with how it reheated beverages. No matter what power level or time we used (and we experimented a lot!) every cup of coffee, tea, or soup seemed to go from not hot enough to scalded in 5 - 10 seconds time. The takeaway: Probably good if you want an energy efficient alternative to using a conventional oven to cook large casseroles, but overkill if you mostly want to reheat your coffee or make a frozen dinner.
