Spent an hour putting it together before realizing that the "middle bar" support piece didn't come with it. I now have a bench that is a hazard to sit on. Thankfully, it was an unwanted birthday present. Maybe somebody can snuggle up on it at the dump after I take it there next week.

I purchased this to replace an older bench in my backyard that had been repaired several times. The Parkland bench is a fairly typical "Made in China" product. Not the highest of quality and there is a good chance it will be missing a part when delivered. My bench was missing the middle support strap. Despite this, it went together fairly easily. As others mentioned, I had to bend and manhandle the underside metal stabilizing supports with some pliers to get them to fit properly. The wood is nicely stained and smooth but there does not seem to be any protective finish. I would have hoped for a varnish or urethane. The underside of the wood slats is completely unfinished. I’m hoping it will last. I did contact the manufacturer regarding the missing piece. Initially by phone. The person manning the phones answered immediately and said to send an email with a copy of the receipt, my shipping address and the name of the missing part from the part list. I did and the part was in my hand 2 days later. Very good service. Prior to installing the middle strap, the front wooden slat popped up higher that the other slats. This made the bench uncomfortable. The middle strap did fix that condition. As with the other straps, it did not fit well and I had to re-bend it to fit properly. Comparing this to my older bench (made in the USA) it feels lesser in quality. The arms/support legs are light weight compared to the bench I replaced. However, this does make it easier to move the bench for lawn maintenance. The wood on the older bench was thicker and stronger. It was very stable despite no stabilizing supports and barely bent when we sat on it. The Parkland bench has a small bit of wobble and slight bend when I sit in it but I don’t feel like it will collapse under me. For reference, I am a 6 ft tall, 250 lb man. All in all, this is an average product at an OK price. I had higher expectations but the manufacturer did have very good and quick service when I needed them. It’s not a great deal, but it’s not a horrible one either. It does look good and I really like the graphics.

I did need to bend the metal supports for underneath the slats for the seat but everything else was fine. All hardware included went together as per directions. Love the nautical theme.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice sailing theme metalwork but poor quality support legs I like the bench as I'm a sailor and was looking for a thematic bench. The back of the bench has nice metal work that fits my theme. But the legs of the bench are not good quality. My husband and I only weigh 300 pounds together and it's wobbly. The legs are thin metal and not supportive. We bought two pieces of conduit to reinforce the legs, and to hold them apart so they wouldn't buckle under the bench. It looks a little funny, but we're getting used to it. Then we had to paint the metal a bronze color to match the rest of the bench. I could have sent it back, but chose not to because I like the metalwork on the seat back, plus by the time we set put it together, we didn't want to take it back apart and box it up. I guess it's an ok item for the price, and I like it, but if you're not really into sailing, you might look elsewhere for a higher quality bench.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not bad... not bad at all... but the armrests/legs are quite thin and flimsy. My maintenance staff added a separate metal brace underneath to strengthen the bench. Before the brace was added there was a noticeable wobble if a seated person shifts their weight. If you look real close at the item picture, you can see the bench legs are a little slim. But the ocean pattern looks great.
