Q:What size coupler do I need to attach it to my compressor?
by|May 20, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi RandyR, no special sized coupling is necessary to get positive results with the 1.5" Positive Placement Connector. Any size coupling on your compressor will be ok for this tool as long as you provide adequate pressure (suggested 100psi minimum)

        Easy to use
I have had other mail guns that were made for shooting nails into the metal brackets and they work ok but with just the tip of the nail sticking out of the gun, it's sometimes hard to get located properly. The nail guide on this gun really works well. It is easy to tell when you are located in the nail hole without having to see the nail itself. The gun itself is well built, mostly metal with just a few plastic parts. The balance is good however the gun is a little on the heavy side. The grip is comfortable and helps offset the heft of the gun. I have only used Paslode nails in it and they are very easy to load and so far I have not experienced any misfires. The gun is NOT an oil free gun so you must be sure to lubricate it each time you use it .Paslode makes a good product and this nail gun is not exception.

        Outstanding product!
The Paslode Pneumatic 30 F150S-PP 1.5 in Positive Placement Metal Connector Air Tool Framing Nailer is an outstanding product. It comes with a pair of safety glasses and a left or right hand Rafter Hook. It's literally a must have for Pros. This tool has a medium weight of 6-1/4lbs. If you're looking at saving time nailing those hangers this is the tool for you. No more finger busting teco nail holding. The positive placement nose probe allows you to hit the hole with accuracy everytime. This product requires a 1/4" x 3/8" NPT plug which is sold separately as well as air tool lubricant.  The maximum nail length is 1-1/2" with shank diameter of .131" - .148" The gun supports Heat treated and Galvanized heat treated nails. Min/Max pressures are 90 to 120psi for optimal tool performance. An important note: the nose probe is considered a wear item and should be replace when worn (can no longer locate the hole in the hardware). The manufacturer offers a 90-day limited warranty on all parts except those covered by the extended warranty for 1yr and does not cover wear items.

        Seems Solid !
I recently added a lean-to to my barn, using metal joist hangers. You can either attach those metal hangers with screws or nails, and if the wood is pressure treated, you need to use galvanized fasteners. This Paslode nailer has a special tip to guide the nail into the holes of the hangers, which greatly speeds installation. The nailer is very well made. I like the adjustable air deflector which keeps the puff of air from hitting you in the face. The magazine seems easy to load. I wish the trigger was shaped differently, because it hangs down a bit too far and almost wants to pinch, but that depends on the size of your hand. I do suggest you order fasteners in advance, because as of now I have not been able to locate any 1-1/2" galvanized fasteners which are required for pressure treated lumber.

        Nice lightweight Nail Gun
This is a small (1.5" fastener) lightweight (6.5lb.) nail gun that is primarily made for installing joist hangers. The positive placement tip allows the user to easily locate the predrilled holes in the hanger - even in very tight places. I work with some smaller wood stock so it works for me as a small framing nailer. It's great for projects around the house - wooden planter boxes, birdhouses, installing gutters, etc. The light weight makes one-handed operation an easy task. If you have the need for a tool for small framing tasks or if you are a builder and hange a lot of joists - this is your tool. Easy to load and easy to wield around.

        Great quality Nailer
This is a really good quality metal connector nailer. I do home remodel for a living and I know Paslode is a brand that I trust and can take a beating. This nailer has all the features that a guy like me is looking for. Plenty of power, but not with a big kickback. That actually surprised me. It feels really well made. Every shot I shot was on the money. I didn’t have any misfires or missed shots. The accuracy is great on this nail gun and the nose makes it really simple to aim right at your target hole on a joist hanger. Like anything that shoots I recommend wearing protective eyeglasses in case of a shot that bounces off. I literally have nothing negative to say about this nail gun and as a contractor, it is a must. Worth every penny. I plan on buying the extended clip for it in the future, as it does hold only one strip, and maybe a half of another max. The rafter hook on It is really good quality and its positioned in a way that I could even carry it with my tool pouches. Normally, I install joist hangers by hand and sometimes its really inconvenient when you have to do a lot of them. And sometimes the nail on the other side loosens up when you bang the other side. So having this nail gun is a big improvement. Another thing that I noticed is different about it is it uses a 3/8 adapter for the air connector. I did run it off of a quarter inch line and had no issues. But it says recommended a 3/8 minimum. So in the future I’ll do that, but I still had no problems. It is a great nail gun and I definitely recommend it to any guy in the trades.

        Great Nailer
I got this nailer for some construction projects around my home. It really is a nice unit. It feels very comfortable and well balanced in my hands. Even though it weighs about 6 lb it feels far lighter due to this balance. Has a nice big comfortable trigger switch with easy operation. Is obviously made with high quality materials and looks like it will last for a very long time. Can use nails between an inch and quarter and inch and a half on a 30 nail strip. I do wish it came with a storage bag but other than that very pleased with this unit.

Solid construction coupled with convenient features makes for a great tool!
I requested this Paslode Pneumatic 30 F150S-PP 1.5 in Positive Placement Metal Connector Air Tool Framing Nailer from the Home Depot Seeds Reviewer November campaign to finally upgrade my toolset for basic construction purposes around the house. With two dogs, two children and a wife who always seems to want new things built for the house, this will save me hours. Having used a gas-powered Paslode nailer for years in the past, I was already familiar with the brand and the general capabilities of a powered nailer. What did surprise me was the addition of the air deflector on this new nailer, which is quite frankly awesome! Having a strong puff of air blow in your face a few times is minor, but doing that hundreds or thousands of times in a single week can be a real problem. And being the great company that Paslode is, they even provide a complementary pair of safety glasses for you to wear on your worksite! The only reason I didn't give this nailer the fifth star (and I considered it for quite a while), is because I'm not crazy about the rafter hanger. It's okay, but I think the traditional metal clip was just fine as it was.

        Very precise and powerful nailer
This nailer doesn't need much presentation - it was long awaited upgrade version of the widely known and used PF150S-PP, which has higher capacity but lacked good balance, which is extremely important when framing, when you work one handed 90% of the time. Total weight of the tool is 6.25 lbs. The other new development implemented on the F150S-PP is the pairing of the new nose and a crescent-shaped driver blade giving off wider impact area over the nail head. Combined, both give very precise and decisive nail placement. The wider impact area to the nail head, not only prevents twisting and uneven force distribution, but also extends the life of the blade and the nose substantially. If you haven't done framing with one of the those, I definitely recommend it, it shortens the time tremendously, with excellent placement of each strike, fast and precise every time. Most importantly, it does it safely, every time. Magazine capacity is smaller than previous versions - 30 nails at 30°strips of 1-1/2" between 0.131" to 0.148" thickness. Magazine can be expanded by replacing with larger capacity in a separate order. Operating pressure is standard 90-120 psi, wood with higher humidity will require less pressure, although this is not a point of concern with this nailer, as the head always gets supported by the framing connector. If you do a lot of framing this is an indispensable tool, not because that you can't do with a regular framing nailer, but because you can do it a lot safer and a lot faster, with less risk from nails flying back at you or driven incorrectly. In terms of pricing, this is the best priced tool there is in this category. I know, I own several and they used to cost a lot, now Paslode are launching this high quality version of this tool more affordably, while it is still 100% proudly made in the USA. They offer a 1 year full and 5-year extended warranty, but I doubt you'll notice it. All the Paslode's I have took a beating and then they kept going. Great tool! There are a few things you need to watch out for - oil it with a couple of drops of oil before every use of 10+ nails, I suggest using the Paslode oil as it is guaranteed non-corrosive and can stay in the tool for prolonged periods of time without causing problems on the oil separation rings. The other is - always use a dehumidifier on your air lines, especially if you work in high humidity climate. This would not only prolong the life of the tool, but also increase the duty cycle of the tool. Third - always, always use eye protection. This is a very safe and forgiving tool, yet accidents can happen in a fraction of a second, due to fatigue, careless placement, defect in the metal connector or the wood itself. The most important thing about the purchase of this tool is you and you need to take care of your safety so this tool can go to work. The tool comes with a high quality no-fog safety googles and a belt hook. Take care of it and it will take care of you for a long time.

        Heavy Duty Power
The Paslode Pneumatic 30 F150S-PP 1.5 inch Positive Placement Metal Connector Air Tool Framing Nailer is a handy product in my air tool box! This nailer is super solid, very heavy duty construction, and very well balanced. It's so easy to use without fatigue for the user on big projects. Especially with so many nailers being a little erratic this nailer performs very smoothly and gets the job done fast.

Excellent tool but make sure you have the paslode nails available before you depend on it for a job.
The Paslode Pneumatic 30 F150S-PP 1.5 in Positive Placement Metal Connector Air Tool Framing Nailer is a specialized nail gun specifically designed to nail metal connectors to framing. It has a probing tip on the end of the gun that pretty much keeps you from missing. Paslode doesn’t include any sample nails, lubricant, or an air line fitting. This gun feels lighter then my other ones of similar size. I am knocking off a star because I ordered the recommended nails for this nail gun and inventory only showed 2 in stock. They were supposed to be shipped and here on time for the job I needed them for and they haven’t even shipped yet. Nobody locally carries them in stock. I can’t really speak to how well this nail performs because my box of nails still hasn’t shipped. I’ll update my review when I get some nails.
