Would this be a good base for small retaining wall. Worried about drainage

Asked by Mary May 25, 2020

Answer

I would recommend asking the retaining wall company. I believe you will need a good solid substrate to handle the weight of the wall. Paver Base is very goo for that when compacted correctly. Drain Tile installed on the back side of the wall, back filled with Pea Gravel and or Multi-Purpose Gravel aides in drainage. When the drain tile is sloped away from the wall. Thanks Yes Patio Paver Base is a good foundation for drainage.

You would need to contact the turf company and ask what type of base they recommend. From what I’ve read Class II is mentioned. Class II means 100% crushed quarry rock, no recycle content. The product in the Nurserymen’s Paver Base is a Class 5 or surfacing aggregate, patio / road base, etc.

This is the brand to buy. I tried two different brands of paver base for my sidewalk project, and this is the superior one. The other had a lot of clay causing it to stick to the compacter, requiring very frequent cleaning. The Pavestone product compacts very well without sticking to the compactor surface, resulting in a nice flat surface with less effort. Both of the products I tried cost the same amount. It's a no brainer - this is the brand to buy.
