4 in. x 11.75 in. x 6.75 in. River Red Concrete Retaining Wall Block

. I ordered my material on line and took advantage of the reasonably priced delivery option. The bricks arrived in good order with no sign of damage from the delivery process. I was building a 24 in high x 25 ft long retaining wall. I set a level footer with drainage material and 8 x 16 x 1.5 patio brick. That is where the fun stopped. The variation of multiple dimensions and surfaces of these bricks indicates the manufacturing process is lousy. Length varied by up to 1 in. Width varied by up to 1.5in. The step back lip on the bottom varied in depth by up to .25 in and the height and taper were inconsistent making it difficult to line up the bricks on a straight line, and caused varied depths of step back. The face of the bricks are widely different. Some corners are rounded, some are jagged and some are simply broken off causing the length to vary. Whole corners are broken off. Some corner edges are not plumb so one brick may or may not line up correctly to the ones next to it. Large gaps exist between bricks in my 24in high x 25 ft long wall. Had I not been using the cap stones, the wall would be noticeably crooked, due to step back variation mentioned, when complete. If all of these issues were not enough of a dissapointment, now that the brick has gotten wet in the rain, about 25 percent of the brick never dry out. This makes a two tone spotty looking wall and concerns me that the block is not properly cured and may fail prematurely. I regret not sending the brick back but due to my time available to do the work and my remote location i decided to use the brick and make the best of it. It’s a good thnig I had taken the time to put in a good straight, level and solid footer. No telling how crooked it would have become if i had not taken time to start out straight and level. I wish i could leave more than one picture because i have good pics of all the issues i experienced and noted above. I won’t be using this brand brick again.

These blocks are great for the price, assuming you know the real color. They have orange, dark grey and red in them that really isn't reflected on Home Depot's website. Learn from our mistake and go look in your store first. We had to waste over 100 of these block.
