A:  A 2 inch metal liner that goes around the top of the grill (to protect the top stones from cracking I suppose) once built is the only additional piece to the stones. The advantage of buying the kit is only having the exact number and type of stones to build the fire pit and they are placed on a pallet and shrink wrapped for ease of delivery or pickup. I did not realize, until after the purchase that the instructions provided online also give the exact number of stones to purchase for the fire pit and you can do it for half the cost of the kit. I must warn you though that the online instructions are just pictures and you have to scrutinize some to make sure you are using the right size stone at the right placement for it to work correctly. I built in place before gluing them to make sure they were correct. This was a little extra work but I am glad I did that way because I had to make a couple of corrections before adding adhesive.

    A:  There is not a major advantage to purchasing online. It’s mostly the convenience of purchasing from your home, and the material will be delivered directly to you. If your local store has the material, and you can buy exactly what you need, take advantage of their $100.00 delivery with the moffet to get the material as close to the job site as possible.         A:  Being that there is not a locking mechanism on this wall, you can take it a little higher but I would caution you on going too tall. I would use an adhesive to help with the structural integrity as well. Good luck with your project and thank you for your inquiry!
