          Would I need an underlayment?
          ByJan 23, 2025
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hello! Pergo XP Burnt Anndel Oak has pre-attached underlayment. The use of additional Pergo Floormate underlayment is optional. If you have a concrete subfloor and do not use Pergo Floormate, however, you will need to use a 6-mil polyethylene vapor barrier. Thank you for your Pergo inquiry- Pam

Hello! Ellwood Maple is the closest visual to Sugar House. I would suggest comparing a sample for a more accurate comparison. The locking system that was used with Sugar House is not used with any of our current products. Thank you for your Pergo inquiry- Pam

Looks nice, terrible quality, hard to install
The flooring pattern and color is really nice, and the attached underlayment is a bonus. It really does look like hardwood! However, the quality of the planks is terrible and I struggled with the installation. This was not my first time installing flooring but it was definitely the most difficult due to the manufacturing of the product. The planks are MDF so if the joints are not completely tight, there is no way it will be water resistant as indicated in the product description. The planks I received did not "snap" together (as outlined in the instructions and the video from the manufacturer). In fact, one plank was completely missing the tab to snap into the previous row over the entire length of the plank. Another plank was broken and almost all of the pieces over eight boxes had the corners of the locking tabs smashed so they did not snap together properly. I already had an installation kit and when I tried to use it on these planks to close the gaps, the flooring pattern chipped. It was hard to get the pieces to stay together as they were installed so I used making tape to hold the joints as I installed each row. I don't think the pieces were the same size. There are a couple of sections where it is apparent that a plank was narrower than the others which caused a gap. Like I said, this was not my first time installing laminate flooring but this was definitely the hardest. I would not choose this flooring or install it in any future projects.

                    Pergo XP Flooring
I ordered the Pergo XP flooring thinking it is a laminate flooring and that temperature and humidity would not have limitations. I had planned to use the flooring in an outdoor shed workshop in north Georgia (Atlanta area). After receiving the flooring and reading the specs and instructions it was very clear this product would not work in an outdoor shed that has no heating and A/C. The flooring has relative humidity (RH) limits of 35% to 65% and temperature limits of 60 deg F to 85 deg F. In north GA the RH can reach far above the 65% in summer months. Temperatures can range from 15 deg F to 100 deg F. These are far outside the acceptable range for this product. It is therefore NOT feasible to use this flooring in an outside shed with no temperature control. I am now forced to find another application for the flooring inside my home. I did try assembling a few pieces of the flooring to see how the assembly is done. Each piece is 7.5” wide, 47” long and 10 mm thick. Each piece has male and female assembly joints on sides and ends. I tried assembling two pieces on the long (47”) sides and had trouble getting the two pieces to snap flat (see photo). I even clamped one piece to my workbench to hold it flat while I fitted the second piece (at a slight angle) into the interlocking joint. With the joint assembled I could not get the flooring to lay flat. Finally, after pushing on it very hard, it did lay flat (see photo). I just tried assembling the long sides, It may be very challenging to assemble end joints in combination with long joints. I guess once you get the hang of it the assembly would go easier. All in all, the quality of the flooring looks good and the surface of the flooring looks like real wood. I also like the color.

Matches the look of traditional honey oak floord
We picked this laminate to match our existing honey oak hardwood floors in other parts of our home. We’re very happy with the match as you can see in the photos. We laid each row only with boards of the same pattern as the patterns (for the most part) are printed in such a way that when laid end to end give the illusion of a longer plank. If you just lay them randomly you end up with more pattern breaks and the planks look shorter. Would recommend if trying to match the look of honey oak.

                      Used for walls
I was originally looking for another product but when i saw this in store i liked the color better. I used this for an accent wall. Now im looking to change the floor but too lazy to. Anyways material was easy to work with and not too expensive

                        Installation is frustrating
The installation was hard, and annoying, to do. There were a few pieces that were damaged in shipping. You need another person and lots of patience. After you read the novel (the installation directions), you then proceed. You do need special pergo flooring tools to install. Pieces tended to pop out of place or would not snug up to next piece properly. I would not choose this particular model of flooring again. Very antiquated installation process. After many hours and several days later, the Pergo floor looks quite nice! We had light colored, laminate floor in our hallway before and now have updated to a more warm, cozy color of chocolate brown. Just need to finish trim and we are done.

                        Beautiful and Simple
This is a beautiful flooring product that is simple to install. The planks click together easily and tightly to form a solid unit that looks fantastic Each plank is unique in its pattern. Use some type of plastic vapor barrier prior to installation as this will lengthen the life of the flooring and keep any potential moisture at bay. Install the first course end to end, and then for the second course, cut a plank in half so that the end seams don't meet in adjacent planks. This not only gives a better appearance, it also adds strength and stability to the flooring. When installing the second and subsequent planks, click the far end and work your way back to the beginning of the plank. This will help to keep the end seams from separating. Use a soft mallet and wood block to make sure plank seems are fully inserted, but be careful not to hit too hard as you risk bending or breaking the edges of the planks. We installed the flooring in an enclosed back porch area. We pulled up the old bright orange carpet and padding. We made sure to scrape any glue residue from the underlayment and vacuumed the area well. The final product speaks for itself. The scratch resistant surface is also a plus. It's a easy way to beautify any area.

More quality products like this XP Burnt Anndel Oak Flooring. The fit was excellent with sturdy joiner edges.
Outstanding Product from the fit and finish, the cushioned backing, and the install. This is a partially installed flooring due to weather. An absolutely amazing product that has exceeded other flooring materials. The pattern design is detailed to have a uniformity that is consistent throughout the adjoining boards. There were not many joints that did not fit together and required hammering.
