    A:  The hook measures 12 inches from the center of each curve in the hook.

        A:  Yes, it is 12" from the outside of the large bend to the outside of the small bend. In some situations one end works better than the other, depending on where it is hooked and what it is holding.

          A:  I wouldn't, especially depending on size of feeder you plan on using. I really don't think it would be stable enough, and, if a strong wind would come, it would be swinging back and forth and may even fall. I think the best anchor for this is an eye hook, or, plant hanging rod.

              A:  Should work fine.  I have mine on a shepherds hook but I also use them in tree limbs for plants.

                  A:  Approximately 4.5", it will fit branches smaller than that width.

                    A:  The largest part of the hoop at the top measures 5" across. The small end of the hook measures 2½" across. The largest part I could not measure a branch, so I measured the portion of my leg, just below the knee. It measured approximately 14 inches around. I hopes this helps you.

                      Does the job well
                      There's nothing too complicated about this item. I use one to hang a bird [seed] feeder and another one to hang a hummingbird nectar feeder. It is sturdy, versatile, and does the job well.

                      These S hangars have a nice finish and a very artistic look. I hung small bird houses but these appear to be very strong.
