I did not pay very close attention to the packing, I just assumed the folding would safe the knife. It does not! Before folding you have to place plastic safety cover on the blade first, or it will leave an exposed edge of the blade.

Very simple blade change. Comes with 6 replacement blades so the final cost is close to buying just a knife and blades separately.

I had an old faux oriental carpet that I replaced and I rolled it up and towed it into my garage, planning to cut it into manageable strips to take to the dump. I soon discovered that carpeting can be very tough to cut (read: very near to impossible) with average homeowner's tools. I tried heavy-duty scissors, lawn and garden shears, and shop knives, and nothing worked. Then I ran across a reference to carpet knives, and I found these at HD. It wasn't like slicing through butter, but the effort required was relatively low to cut the carpet into strips. They aren't the cheapest carpet knives HD carries and they aren't the most expensive, and I definitely consider the Personna a great value.

The fact that it folds does make it convient to carry in pocket but there is no provision to carry spare blades and as fast as the blades dulll when cutting carpet pad this is an issue.
