I had the exact same issue. Basically, I had to ignore the directions. That's a bummer because it would be nice if the faucet install worked as promised...point the arrows forward and the handles will line up. NOT. Mine ended pointing AWAY from the sink at an angle. That was the only way it would work.
Only to top part is polished chrome but 100% all plastic.
You must have installed them incorrectly.
Whether your hands will hit the back of the sink basin depends on how big your hands are and how far back you move them. Download the Specifications from the product page and look the the spout reach and spout height. All measure the distance from the center of your spout hole to the back of your sink. Use your head!
No. The only things preventing a leak are the two rubber gaskets: one between the flange and the top of the sink and the other below the sink. The purpose of the lower gasket is to prevent a leak should water enter the sink's overflow holes. Unless you have a very thick sink, the lower gasket should end up above the threads after you handtighten the large plastic nut. The only way to test whether the lower gasket is making a watertight connection is to fill the sink until water is pouring through the sink's overflow holes. If a leak occurs before the water reaches the overflow holes, then the upper gasket is not making a watertight connection.
My "Maintenance and Care Guide" says to use a "coin" to remove the filter screen. Twist counterclockwise from the perspective of looking up in to the outlet.
No, it does not swivel.
I have the same issue as you described.
