It is not a sunblock screen - although there are options at the store for that.

How do I know what size spline i need for my screen? Or does that even matter?

I believe it is standard and if you are replacing a 35 -36 inch wide screen, it should fit. I didn't consider the spline size and did not have any fitting problems.

Can I use this under my heat vents in the home (so that small items don't fall into the vents)?

Asked by Babs November 8, 2015

No, the material is not made for heat. I would be afraid that it might reach its melting point and become a sticky mess. Try looking up hardware cloth, but you want to make sure you don't have too fine a mesh as your HVAC system needs to 'breathe' properly and any mesh will restrict the airflow.

what is the diameter of the spline

As stated in the online details, and on the package, the spline diameter, 0.160 (5/32).

The product was very easy to use and the directions were understandable. The spline was a little stiff which was to be expected for a new product. Overall, I would absolutely purchase this product again... especially seeing that my mom thought I bought (and installed) a new window screen (and frame) instead of replacing the screen myself using the current frame. *pat self on back*

Was pleasantly surprised to find it was a kit that included spline and a spline tool. Already had a tool (belonged to my father - must be 60 years old), but did use the spline.

useless accessories
the screen mesh itself is alright, very obvious it's the cheapest offering. The included some doesn't have size listed, so I ended up having to toss it out and buy a separate spool. The included tool is beyond USELESS. I spent so much time trying to actually put the spline in without cutting the mesh and fighting the wobbling wheel. It barely survived installing one edge before the wheel became worn out and lost its shape. It caused me a couple of scrapes on my knuckles due to the poor design and quality of the tool. It also ended up catching and cutting the mesh. Overalls, very poor item. Cheap mesh, cheaper tool, useless spline.
