I couldn’t say just too light for a Texas freeze.
I have not, but I think I would hold up pretty well. I would be a little worried about large hail making holes, though. Perhaps a tarp will offer more protection.
I only use it for frost in winter and not sure how far apart grommets think 3 to a side.

Depends on the plants you are trying to protect. If the plants are frost sensitive...these will protect them until the temp goes to near or below freezing . If the plants can handle frost but nit freezing then they will protect until temp is below freezing to some degree.

I have found the blanket allows air circulation and sunshine but blocks moisture & water. When the day warms up, I remove the blanket and water my plants after being covered for more than 4 consecutive days.
I would remove the planket after the sun has gone down.
